Giannis Antetokounmpo and his team Milwaukee Bucks were the champions of the 2020-21 NBA season. Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, it was the shortest season in the history of the NBA. Giannis Antetokounmpo who became the face of the NBA from that moment wasn’t able to grab the award of Most Valuable Player (MVP) that season as it was Nikola Jokic who was voted the highest.
Milwaukee Bucks who is standing third in the Eastern Conference roster is 25-13 in the total of 38 games played this season. Giannis Antetokounmpro is averaging 27.8 points, 11.6 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game which is among one of the best players in the league.

It was not late when back in August, the Greek star Giannis Antetokounmpo shared his feeling about being called the face of the NBA in an interview. Giannis explained about his parents how much they worked hard to feed him the best and how much he has to do the same in response to that.
Talking about his parents he said, “We aren’t going to stop. Our parents didn’t stop working. They worked constantly to feed us and to raise us. We got this from them. We will never stop working, just like our parents,”

Famous YouTuber explains how the media is threatened by what Giannis Antetokounmpo represents
Following the same interview back in August Giannis denied the fact that he is the face of the NBA. He is loved in America as well as in Greece. He has managed to become one of the successful players in the NBA and it is his humbleness and his character that he assumes himself to not be the face of the NBA.
Remarking on the same Giannis said, ”I’m not the face of the NBA. I don’t want to be the face of the NBA. It could be Kevin Durant or James Harden. I want to do my job, see my family; I don’t care about being the face of the NBA, I want to be Giannis who goes to the court and works,”
This statement however shows how humble and the good of a person Giannis is. Though his humble representation in the media a famous YouTuber thinks otherwise.
In an episode of Dreamerspro Max, Charles explained how Giannis represents as a threat to the media. He says “I truly believe that there are a good amount of people out there that are threatened by what Giannis and his compel represents, I mean that wholeheartedly. I feel there is a legitimate amount of fear for what Giannis represents. First of all, if we’re being honest Giannis and his compile is not an American born player. He wasn’t born in the States and no matter how much he wanna play all games and act like it’s, what i’m talking about i think that there are good amount of people out there that are not comfortable with a non-American born player, being the face of the NBA.”
“If you look at the faces of the NBA you have LeBron James and others right. Hell, right now they’ve even tryna find a way to make Zion Williamson the face of the NBA, they would rather have these type of players over Giannis and his compels. If we’re being honest and this is what I truly believe. And to a certain extent, I believe that a good amount of people would be comfortable with the idea of Luka Doncic if it had to come to it to be the face of the NBA over Ginnis and his compels.“
He further goes on to explain that the fact that Giannis belongs from Greece makes him unworthy of being the face of the NBA. He admits that he truly believes this. And in another aspect, he believes that the fear people have from Giannis is because he represents an anti-super team that has a narrative way of doing things in the NBA.
His arguments are a bit disputed and there is a duplicity in the facts. Though Giannis belongs from Greece it doesn’t barricade him from being the face of the NBA and it is not something that is achieved through an individual perspective. To be counted as the face of the NBA it is the fans who decide the best among all.
