”It wasn’t our normal fight-it was really scary,” Olya Sharypova breaks silence on how she was physically assaulted by Alexander Zverev

Olya Sharypova, the ex-girlfriend of German tennis star, Alexander Zverev has finally broken her silence on the incident that took place during the US Open 2019. During the past week, Sharypova had accused Zverev of physically assualting her during their relationship, which took a different level at the US Open on 21st August 2019.

Sharypova, in a 2-hour interview with Ben Rothenberg for the Racquet, revealed how Zverev physically and mentally tortured her during their relationship. She also spoke about her younger days when she was pursuing tennis and her first encounter with Zverev. Most importantly, she finally revealed the circumstances during the US Open 2019 which occurred in the hotel between them.

“I couldn’t breath for some time,” Sharypova on the shocking incident

Olga Sharypova reiterated the entire series of events that happened that day in New York. “It wasn’t our normal fight—it was really scary. I was screaming, and because of that he threw me down onto the bed, took a pillow, and then sat on my face. I couldn’t breathe for some time, and I’m just trying to get out of it. I’m screaming and started to run,” said Sharypova.

Sharypova said that she was able to escape from their room and escaped into the corridor of the floor where they stayed which was the 46th floor of Lotte New York Palace.

“In one moment I had time to run out in the hall; he was afraid to go after me into the hall, because there some people could see us,” she said.

Sharypova later said that she managed to escape to the first-floor reception of the hotel and managed to curl herself on a couch near a wall. However, she worried some other person would recognize her and see how terrified she was.

“There were a crowd of people, and I wanted to leave. I didn’t want anybody from the tennis tour to see me there crying,” she added.

Sharypova later revealed that strangers citing her distress came to her rescue who helped her escape into the busy street sidewalk.

“They helped to hide me, strangers. They saw me, and they saw Sascha coming to look for me, and some men went to him and started talking to him. At this point, when the guy was talking to him, I escaped, I went somewhere else so he wouldn’t see me,” she added.

“I opened my bag and didn’t see half of my stuff—are you kidding me?” Sharypova said. “Whatever you’ve already done to me is not enough? You want to humiliate me more?” she added.
