The Italian Open 2020 Day 3 had a number of matches after Day 2 was washed out with heavy rainfall. ATP masters event with winners cruising ahead enlists Grigor Dimitrov, Novak Djokovic, Matteo Berrettini and Marin Cilic. On the other hand, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Borna Coric lost early.

Novak Djokovic enters the tour amidst much talk of his US Open default. He does not let the things bother him as he beats Salvatore Caruso 6-3, 6-2. Novak reached Rome well ahead than he expected and got ample time to switch from hard to clay.

On his way he hot 5 aces and his serve was brilliant. Thus, his little hiccup at the US Open with the shoulder was nothing serious. Djoker kept more than 60 percent first serves win while beating the Italian.

Dimitrov wins 6-1, 6-0 against Nishioka

The other big name to cruise easily was Grigor Dimitrov. He had an easy win against Japanese player Nishioka beating him 6-1,6-0. Nishioka was phenomenal at the US Open as he gave a tough five-setter fight to Andy Murray. Dimitrov has won both his matches in two sets as he sets up a clash with young Italian Jinnik Sinner.

Matteo Berrettini saved himself from dropping the opening set as he sealed the first set with 7-5 and went on to win the second 6-1 against Federico Coria. Berrettini is the 4th seed as he enters the Italian Open 2020.

Rafael Nadal played a night match as he won 6-1, 6-1 against Pablo Carreno Busta. Despite playing his first match since Feb, Spaniard was hardly troubled by the long break.

Besides, Marin Cilic also won his match against the sixth seed David Goffin. Cilic won in straight sets breaking Goffin’s serve and sealing 6-2,6-2 victory. En route his win, Cilic hit 8 aces and dominated the match.

Stefanos Tsitsipas, the Greek god lost the match against 19-year-old Jannik Sinner in a thrilling three-set. Tsitipas made 52 unforced errors as he lost 1-6, 7-6 (11-9), 6-2 to Sinner. The Italian registered a major win beating the third seed of the tour.

As Dominic Thiem and Alexander Zverev are away from the Italian Open 2020, Tsitsipas was one of the main contenders from the next-gen.

Stefano Travaglia defeated Borna Coric in a straight-sets victory. Coric seemed out luck as he lost 7-6(2), 7-5. Despite being so close he just could not seal either of the sets.

The Italian Open 2020 will provide a great practice before the French Slams, men’s draw has eased a bit as two great players exited on Day 3.
