Italy vs Netherlands: Preview and Prediction

The mighty Italians will face the Dutch side in their next game which promises to be an exciting one. The battle between Immobile and Van Dijk is the one to watch out for.

Italy vs Netherlands

The fourth set of group stage matches of the UEFA Nations League will kick off tonight. Spain vs Ukraine and Germany vs Switzerland are the two matches which will kick start the fourth set of group stage matches.

Netherlands will travel to Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia where Italy will host them in their reverse fixture. A Nicolo Barella goal in the first half handed Italy their three points when they first met Netherlands in September.

Both Italy and Netherlands had a frustrating draw last week. Italy who were expected to comfortably ease past Poland drew the match unfortunately. Netherlands on the other hand played a disappointing goalless draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Italy would hope to win this match to cement their place at the top of the group. Netherlands too will hope to somehow take away all the three points from this fixture which will be decisive in their qualification.

Van Dijk vs Immobile

Head to Head

Italy and Netherlands have met 22 times so far in which eight times neither teams were able to claim a victory. However Italy have had the clear advantage as they have won 11 games and lost only three. Italy claimed a narrow victory last time when they met in the UEFA Nations League.

Predicted Lineups

Italy Predicted Lineup: Gianluigi Donnarumma, Alessandro Florenzi, Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini, Cristiano Biraghi, Jorginho, Manuel Locatelli, Marco Verratti, Domenico Berardi, Ciro Immobile and  Stephan El Shaarawy

Netherlands Predicted Lineup: Jasper Cillessen, Hans Hateboer, Virgil van Dijk, Nathan Ake, Daley Blind, Frenkie de Jong, Georginio Wijnaldum, Donny van de Beek, Steven Berghuis, Memphis Depay and Ryan Babel

Italy have performed well under Roberto Mancini who has molded the talents like Manuel Locatelli, Federico Chiesa and Moise Kean into better players. Netherlands on the other hand despite having some of the world’s best players like Virgil van Dijk, Frenkie de Jong and Memphis Depay have failed to perform as a cohesive unit.  We predict the score line to be, Italy 2 – 1 Netherlands.
