It appears Kylie Kelce is compensating for the backlash the NFL attracted since the Kansas City Chiefs star kicker’s controversial speech at the graduation ceremony of Benedictine College. She delivered a heartfelt and powerful speech at Cabrini University graduation, bidding adios to her alma mater.
When Harrison Butker was given the stage for the commencement speech, he chose to tell the female graduates that what matters the most is being a homemaker. In contrast, when the opportunity was given to future Hall of Famer Jason Kelce’s wife, Kylie– she told the graduates to embrace the opportunities that come their way and chase their passion.
The utter difference between both speeches can hardly be disregarded. The three-time Super Bowl champion delved into every other controversial topic, from women’s careers to the LGBTQ community, except for what actually mattered to the young graduates. That’s what Kylie did, as she kept the focus of her speech entirely on the graduating students and the uncertainty as well as excitement of the future. Kylie was at the final graduation ceremony of Cabrini University, which is closing indefinitely on May 30.
The truth is that no one has their lives completely figured out. And if someone tells you otherwise, they are lyingKylie Kelce said
Find the things that speak to you. Your enthusiasm can be channeled to create change, and you are wonderful the way you are.Kylie Kelce added
Kylie graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communications from Cabrini in May 2017. She was chosen to be the speaker at the graduation ceremony on the students’ demand, as Fox News reported.
Kylie Kelce shares candid advice with graduates
While delivering the speech, Kylie brought up her husband to humouredly lower the bar for her speech. She highlighted how the recently retired NFL legend is famous for giving “ some pretty Earth-shattering speeches,” but he didn’t help her write her commencement speech.
She also looked back on her time playing field hockey at the University and offered crucial advice to the graduates:
Fake it until you make it...Just look at me now. I'm 32, mom of three, where did the time go? I couldn't tell you, but what I can tell you is I have no idea what I'm doing.Kylie Kelce said
Kylie also shared that when she was asked to deliver the speech, her first instinct was ‘absolutely no.’ She prefers living away from the spotlight, which she maintained throughout her husband’s Hall of Fame-worthy NFL career and continues to live that way.
