Jaxson Dart is annoyed with all the trips to the blue tent. The New York Giants quarterback understands that the team has to keep him safe, but would prefer to avoid seeing the physio every time he takes a hit.

In the first half of the Giants’ preseason opener against the Minnesota Vikings, Dart took a big hit and stayed down. He was quickly escorted to the blue tent for a quick checkup.

Dart resumed his QB duties shortly after. Later, the second-year signal-caller bluntly addressed how he has felt about visiting the physio.

I really respect the rules and the thought behind what the NFL has of keeping players healthy and reviewing things. At the same time, I’m still puzzled by it just feeling like every time that I get hit, I find my way in there.

During his rookie year, Dart took several hits and was checked for a concussion. In addition to suffering a concussion last season against the Chicago Bears, the Giants were fined $200,000 for violating concussion protocol with Dart in the blue tent in their October 26 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Veterans and analysts urged Dart to take better care of himself. However, the Ole Miss alum asserted that he won’t change the way he plays football.

While the offensive line was called into question for failing to protect its quarterback, replay showed that it was actually running back Tyron Tracy Jr. who lost sight of the on-rushing Ward.

While Dart was being checked for a concussion, veteran Jameis Winston took his place under center. But it wasn’t for too long. Dart returned to the field after the checkup was over.

Dart threw the Giants’ only touchdown pass of the fixture when he hit rookie wide receiver Malachi Fields inside the red zone.

Dart completed 3 of 4 passes for 26 yards and threw one TD pass. Winston completed 8 of 9 passes for 89 yards while Brandon Allen conceded a couple of interceptions. The Giants lost 13-10.

The Giants hit the road in their second game as they face off against the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium. They close out their preseason adventure back in New York against the Jets.

How was Jaxson Dart’s first year with the Giants?

Dart had a 10-3 season in his final year with the Rebels. He averaged an FBS-best 10.8 yards per throw, a career-high passer rating of 180.7, and contributed 32 total touchdowns.

NFL draft experts considered Dart a mid-second-round pick in the 2026 draft. However, strong pre-draft visits and combine performance raised his stock. The Giants selected the 23-year-old 25th overall, ahead of his peers Shedeur Sanders, Dillon Gabriel and Tyler Shough.

Despite the presence of Russell Wilson and Winston in the locker room, Dart did enough to bag the backup job. Wilson began as the starter, but the Giants benched him after a series of lackluster performances.

Dart took over and instantly improved the offense. Dart ended his first year with a 4-8 record. He completed 216 passes (63.7%) for 2272 yards, threw 15 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. He also rushed 86 times for 487 yards and scored 9 touchdowns.

The Giants released Wilson in the offseason, officially handing the starter’s job to Dart. Winston is QB2.
