Over the past several weeks, Jaylen Brown has been in a constant battle of words with ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith and Kendrick Perkins over verbiage.
The two analysts have been pinpointing how the Boston Celtics star has been talking about himself, whereas the team did not have a good year.
When the 2024 Finals MVP tried to bark back, the ESPN pair were ready with their facts. They even went on to suggest that the negative narratives were all Brown’s doing.
To back his opinion, Perkins used his text messages with former Celtics players to paint the 29-year-old as the one bringing all this negativity. This back-and-forth has come to the point where Jaylen Brown’s father has stepped in.
My son is very educated enough to know what to say and what not to say, what’s off-limits. And Big Perk, you’re wrong for jumping against your teammate… Watch your mouth, boy.
Marselles Brown said on Sway’s Universe
The former professional boxer, who stands at 7 feet tall, did not mince his words when he wanted to send a message to Kendrick Perkins. Marselles Brown believes that the analyst is the one in the wrong here, trying to make his son look bad.

The former Celtics center has been at the forefront of this back-and-forth with Jaylen Brown. But now it seems that with his father talking about it, this was definitely going to send the 41-year-old a message of sorts on how to handle this discourse.
Kendrick Perkins responds to Jaylen Brown’s father
Once this clip appeared on social media, there was no doubt that someone would bring it to Kendrick Perkins’ attention. When the latter saw this, he replied with a message directed at Marselles Brown.
I ain’t hard to find. Better sit his old a** down somewhere with all that “Boy” talk!!! Because we definitely can talk it out, or we can get our feet hot. The choice is his.

The language is simple to decipher. Perkins was basically suggesting that the former boxer shut down any efforts to undermine him by making him look like an immature person.

He offered to discuss the situation with Brown senior and hopes to get everything cleared before it gets out of hand. If it does, he is ready to take on the heavyweight who has won 75% of his wins with a knockout.
As bold as that may sound, it might be unwise for Perkins to issue a direct threat. Marselles Brown was recently arrested for a brawl that ended up leaving blood on the street.
Jaylen Brown’s father accuses Stephen A. Smith of going against the Black community
Marselles Brown did not just pick on Kendrick Perkins after the latter’s constant criticisms about his son. He also called out Stephen A. Smith’s intentions.

I’m coming to see you. Stephen A., I called you a couple of times, and you didn’t answer. But it’s okay. I just wanted to talk about it man-to-man. What’s your problems? Why are you attacking him? Why do you attack the Black community? Go attack the White community. Oh, that’s where you get the checks.

The 58-year-old revealed that he has tried to get in touch with the ESPN executive producer, but did not get an answer. To him, that means Smith is likely intentionally going after his son.
Moreover, Brown senior believes that Smith does not go after the White players as much as he does towards Jaylen Brown. That, to him, is a sign that he is doing whatever his $100 million paycheck tells him to do.
