Jason Kidd, the Dallas Mavericks’ coach, made a bold statement on Saturday, where he claimed that Jaylen Brown is the Boston Celtics’ best player. Kidd’s comment was seen as an attempt to drive a wedge between Brown and Jayson Tatum, the Celtics’ star players. However, both Brown and Tatum shrugged off Kidd’s comment, emphasizing that basketball is a team sport.

Jayson Tatum responded to Kidd’s comment where he downplayed it. He said that he understood people try to drive a wedge between him and Jaylen Brown.

Brown also downplayed Kidd’s comment as he said he’s focused on the collective effort and everyone is entitled to their opinions.

Kidd’s comment came after the Celtics dominated the Mavericks 107-89 in Game 1 of the NBA Finals. Despite Luka Doncic’s game-high 30 points, the Mavericks’ supporting cast struggled to keep up with the Celtics’ depth and rotation.

Jason Kidd said in a recent press conference

Brown had an impressive regular season, which earned him his second consecutive NBA All-Star selection. He averaged 23.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game while shooting 49.9% from the field and 35.4% from three-point range. His performance helped the Celtics secure the top seed in the Eastern Conference and the best record in the NBA.

Kidd’s statement has sparked a lot of reaction on social media, with many considering Jayson Tatum to be the Celtics’ best player. However, Brown’s impressive skills and performance this season have solidified his position as one of the top players in the league.
