“One of my dream matches,” Former World Champion wants to face Roman Reigns after getting close to it before infamously walking out of WWE in 2021

A former WWE Champion has long harbored a desire to get into the ring with Roman Reigns. It'd be interesting to see if it happens one day.

For years, former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon tried pushing Roman Reigns down the throats of the fans, and it backfired. The Samoan wrestler was limited in his abilities and got rejected from the WWE Universe. But once he aligned with Paul Heyman and started his Tribal Chief arc, the entire landscape turned upside down. And today, The OTC has cemented himself as one of the most decorated WWE Superstars of all time.

Everyone wants a crack at him. The newest addition to that list is Jeff Hardy. He joined the San Antonio Express-News. Late into the conversation, show host Nick Talbot asked Hardy whom he still intends to face this deep into his decades-long career in pro wrestling. The 47-year-old veteran asserted that Roman Reigns has always been one of his dream opponents.

The Charismatic Enigma says he still wants it to happen before retiring. For the unversed, Jeff was dramatically close to entering a full-fledged feud with Reigns in WWE during his previous run. However, during a live event in December 2021, Hardy walked out of the show and was eventually fired from the company.

WWE officials later conducted a drug test in which Hardy came out clean. However, the reps advised him to go to rehab, which Jeff denied. As a result, WWE let him go. The current TNA tag team champion recently opened up about his release while speaking on Insight.

Hardy admitted to his struggles with alcohol. He was drinking recklessly to a point where it had gotten out of his control. That year in April, Jeff’s father had passed away. Having lost his mother when he was only 10, Hardy was extremely close to his dad. And when he died, Jeff’s grieving knew no bounds.

What is Roman Reigns’ next step in WWE?

This year started off on a high note for Roman Reigns. He regained the Ula Fala after beating Solo Sikoa in a shenanigans-heavy ‘Tribal Combat’ match. Afterwards, The Rock came out to bestow the revered Samoan garland on his cousin.

A lot of fans were anticipating Rock’s betrayal of Reigns but to no avail. The Tribal Chief now wants to get his hands on Cody Rhodes‘ Undisputed WWE title. To make that happen, the former Shield member will compete in the 30-man Royal Rumble match next month.

He’d have to be wary of Drew McIntyre. The Scot has been gunning for retribution on Roman after everything his Bloodline has done to him in recent years. Reigns will face heavy competition from the likes of CM Punk, John Cena, Seth Rollins and more.
