The Boston Bruins and Jeremy Swayman leave out bitter feelings as they finalize an 8-year $66 million contract on Sunday. The deal will run through the 2031-32 season for an AAV of $8.25 million.

With this signing, Swayman is now listed as one of the top six goalies with an annual average value of $8.25 million for the 2024-25 season. As per reports, the deal includes a no-trade clause.

Prior to the signing, there was enough drama involved between Boston Bruins president Cam Neely and the goalie’s agent Lewis Gross. In a pre-season interview, Neely hinted the organization offered Jeremy Swayman a $64 million contract, but Gross interfered saying there were no such talks between them about the said amount in their previous discussions.

Gross later said that they’ll take some time to talk this out and finalize the issue before the regular season game begins. It is also the team’s largest goalie contract in team history.

I’m just so excited to be a Boston Bruin. The fact that we went through this process and the tools that I learned with it, it’s gone now. All I care about is being a Bruin…I couldn’t be happier.

Swayman has time and again noted how he wants to remain a Bruin, and the same thought was echoed by Cam Neely during the conference. He said he spoke with the netminder and got the feeling that he wanted to stay in Boston.

Swayman is currently focused on the “here and now” and wants to get in front of the net as soon as possible. He noted that he’s “overjoyed” that everything’s done and that he can focus on boosting the team to a Stanley Cup victory.

Several videos went viral on Sunday morning soon after the news was released. In one video, the goaltender could be seen winking after getting out of his car in the organization, while in another the Bruins posted a “Back to work” tagline.

They even released a video mimicking the film ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ where Swayman could be seen holding up the mic saying “I’m not f***ing leaving”, just like what Leonardo DiCaprio told his employees in the film.

The bitter feelings are all set aside, and both parties are satisfied and happy with the deal. All that remains are celebrations, and for the goalie to get back to form and join the team for the opening of the regular season games on Tuesday against the Florida Panthers.
