Minnesota Wild goaltender and NHL favorite Marc-Andre Fleury started off the pre-season against the Chicago Blackhawks on a perfect note. Setting the tone right from the moment is crucial in any game, but this time instead of holding a hockey stick, he decided to go with a shovel on ice.

Fleury in his epic prank diary added one more story on Tuesday. Seems like even the night off was wasted as the goalie decided to prank his teammates by being part of the ice crew. To make his teammates believe in the prank, he wore a wig, glasses, fake mustache, and Wild’s hat backward as he shoveled the ice.

His teammates, totally unaware of the prank didn’t react to it. Marc-Andre Fleury even skated by their bench yelling “Come on boys, let’s get it going.” During an interview with KFAN, Fleury noted that he skated fast by the bench so they wouldn’t notice him, especially head coach John Hynes.

Taking a look back at Fleury’s pranking history will take a long time, but let’s discuss some of the most iconic and recent ones. During his time with the Pittsburgh Penguins Fleury used to hang his teammate’s clothes from the top of the rafters.

He did not even leave captain Sidney Crosby alone as he tapped all his equipment with tape together during the 2022 NHL/NHLPA. Apart from that both Crosby and Fleury engaged in plenty of prank wars over the year.

He even did the same tape prank with Vegas Golden Knights teammate Jonathan Marchessault. Later on, he found new targets in Wild’s teammate Brandon Duhaime where the latter joked about Fleury’s age and in turn got his clothes stolen by the NHL prankster.

Their war further continued as Duhaime covered Fleury’s car with toilet paper, and in retaliation, the goalie pulled off all the tires from Duhaime’s car and planted a garden on the hood as his signature.

Marc-Andre Fleury’s retirement request

Minnesota Wild goalie Marc-Andre Fleury spoke about what he wants on his retirement and it certainly was not any special treatment. He quoted time and again that he just wants to be treated the same and not any different, take time to look around and collect some memories from the place.

However, fans are unlikely to listen to his request even if the team does. In all the NHL teams he played, he has left behind a trail of golden memories and has become an absolute fan favorite in the league. He spent most of his time with the Penguins, and they are likely to celebrate his last run on the ice.

I don’t want any special treatment. I just want to go, look around, bring back some memories from my time here, definitely not looking forward to any special treatment. Don’t need that. We’re good.

The Minnesota Wild will face off against the Pittsburgh Penguins on October 29, but the team will have enough time to spare for a few friendly exchanges as they have multiple days off. Fleury is glad to know he can spend some time catching up with his former buddies in Pittsburgh, which he once called home.

It will be good to spend some time there. I feel like every time we go there, we’re in and out pretty quickly. So, it will be good, just drive around a bit, see some friends and enjoy the time.

Fleury set the standard of goaltending in Pittsburgh. He was one of the core members of the team including Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang. Despite being traded they maintained their friendship and are still pretty close with each one of them. His last run on the ice will be an emotional rollercoaster for the fans and the teams he played with. Fleury is undoubtedly one of the NHL favorites given his fun-loving personality both on and off the ice.
