In Short
  • Jerry Jones stumbled while greeting Bill Clinton at a Cowboys press conference but did not fall.
  • Fans reacted humorously to the incident, highlighting their frustrations with Jones' management of the team.
  • The Cowboys are facing uncertainty regarding wide receiver George Pickens, who will play under a franchise tag this season.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is not just known for his theatrics when it comes to his team, but also for his growth from a mere executive to becoming one of the richest owners, with a keen eye for business and growth.

Such qualities generally point to something that is common with people of that stature, connections with the who’s who of the country.

The 83-year-old is well-known for his support of current President Donald Trump. But that has not stopped him from sticking up for his players when they decided to take a knee to support Colin Kaepernick‘s stance.

Jones did come under a lot of criticism for that, as he has faced for almost anything and everything he does. But that noise has never bothered the oil and energy magnate, which is why he goes about his business without a care for the world.

Fans would remember the last time the Dallas Cowboys’ top brass were at an off-season press conference, Jerry Jones ensured he was going to be the top headline.

This time, there is no change. The only difference is that the owner-cum-GM did not do anything intentionally, other than invite his friend Bill Clinton to the press conference.

The unintentional part was when the former President walked into the room, the billionaire got up from his chair, and as he tried to walk towards Clinton, his leg got caught in VP of Player Personnel Will McClay‘s chair. That caused him to stumble, but thankfully, Jerry Jones did not fall.

Fans lose it after Jerry Jones almost falls on his way to greet Bill Clinton

Football fans have generally wanted Jerry Jones to step down from his role as the general manager of the Dallas Cowboys. They have cited his poor record of his team not reaching the Super Bowl once in more than three decades.

It is not that fans think ill of him to the extent that they want him to be seriously hurt. Rather, it is more about whether something can convince him to leave his post and hand it over to a real front office executive.

That explains why fans had such epic reactions to the video of him almost falling over. Check out examples of those reactions below.

Thankfully, Jerry Jones managed to gather himself and, with the help of another individual, avoided a fall. Then he went on to speak with his fellow Arkansas native about the draft and trades before Bill Clinton departed.

Jerry Jones’ Cowboys not committed to giving George Pickens a long-term deal

After former President Bill Clinton left the Cowboys’ press room, reporters got back to asking Jerry Jones and his fellow front office staff about the team’s future.

Cowboys COO Stephen Jones tells reporters that WR George Pickens will play under the franchise tag this season. “There won’t be negotiations on a long-term deal.” The tag is $27.3M, and it’s unclear when Pickens will even show up.

Stephen Jones‘ response seems to indicate that the stalemate between the franchise and George Pickens has not moved an inch. The last time he spoke about the wide receiver, the younger Jones revealed that they had not received any trade interest.

The Cowboys have taken a gamble with Pickens’ non-exclusive transition tag. They probably want to see the Pro-Bowl wideout perform around the same level he did last season, and without any other theatrics, before thinking about handing him a long-term deal.
