Jinder Mahal remains one of the most popular wrestling superstars from India, and his run in WWE was nothing short of remarkable. From competing in high-profile storylines to capturing the WWE Championship in 2017, Mahal shared the ring with some of the biggest names in the industry during his time with the Stamford-based promotion.

In a recent Instagram Reel, the former WWE Champion revealed his personal list of the top five wrestlers he had the honor of facing in the ring. The ranking quickly caught fans’ attention, with many in the comments praising his selections. While some expected names like Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, or AJ Styles to dominate the list, Mahal instead highlighted some of the most physically gifted and athletically dominant performers he competed against, putting together a carefully chosen lineup that impressed fans.

Ranking at the very top of his list, Jinder Mahal named Kurt Angle as the greatest pure athlete he has ever shared the ring with. Mahal reminded fans of Angle’s legendary achievement of winning an Olympic gold medal in 1996 despite competing with a broken neck. “Kurt Angle, Olympic gold medalist with a broken freaking neck. Need I say more?”

Mahal also praised Mark Henry for his incredible combination of power and athleticism, even referencing Henry’s ability to pull off a slam dunk despite his massive frame.

Next on the list was Ricochet, with Mahal showering the high-flyer with praise for his unique in-ring abilities. “Ricochet. Insane high flying ability. Precision, flexibility, nimbleness. Freak athlete”.

The former WWE Champion also included Shelton Benjamin, revealing that he had admired Benjamin’s athleticism ever since his own high school days. “I’ve been watching him for 20 years. I grew up watching Shelton Benjamin, as crazy as that sounds. I believe I was in high school when he debuted. He has the fountain of youth. Insane athlete”.

When it came to naming a standout from the current generation, Mahal pointed to Bron Breakker as a future force in the industry. “Someone from the new generation, Bron Breakker. Insane genetics. Crazy strength. Very, very disciplined. Very motivated young man”.

Jinder Mahal knew his time in WWE was coming to an end in 2024

While discussing his exit from the WWE in 2024 on the DJ Sanj Podcast, Jinder Mahal stated how wrestling is a young man’s sport, and he knew his time was up in the company. He said, “It was time to go, bro. On my end and theirs, like, I just wasn’t doing anything, bro. It’s a young man’s game, bro. It’s a younger generation”.

He further revealed how the newer management came in, and some guys were not being used after the change at the top. Mahal stated, “Management changes, bro. Everything changes. New management came, and some guys benefit, some guys don’t, just like any other company. I just wasn’t being used”.

While Mahal had an iconic segment with The Rock, he was let go by the WWE soon after his majestic return. Meanwhile, Mahal has been wrestling in the independent circuit since then. He has been actively involved in the Indian wrestling promotion WXM and is being featured as their main cover star throughout India, by the in-ring name The Maharaja.
