Team Penske Racing’s Joey Logano is one of the most talented racers of his generations, who proved himself by winning three Cup series titles with the Ford giants. The reigning champion is in the hunt for the fourth title in the 2025, and has already taken the first step by securing a playoff spot with a win. He recently has revealed what keeps him motivated in the relentless pursuit.
Ahead of the 2025 edition of the Chicago Street Race, where Joey Logano is yet to produce a solid run, was asked about what keeps him motivated to continue as a three times champion. He asserted that he always wants to prove himself as he wants to continue being a relevant racer and not someone that relays on past performances, as people forgets things quickly.
I mean, I honestly feel like I have to prove myself every day. I always say, man, ‘What you did yesterday is yesterday?’ Right? Tell me what you’re gonna do tomorrow, that’s the important stuff. You know, the history books and people’s memories are short, right? And people say, I say too, ‘You’re only as good as your last race,’ and it really feels that way a lot of times.
Joey Logano said at Chicago.
Since his full-time debut with Joe Gibbs Racing in 2009, Logano has been competitor for wins. But he had cut his journey with Toyota short after four mediocre year that produced just two wins. He moved to Roger Penske’s team in 2013, and in the last 12 years he has won 35 races, alongside the Cup titles, creating a legacy that matched by a handful of racers.
The 35-year-old has already had a Hall of Fame worthy career, and the veteran himself has admitted that he has accomplished a lot in the sport. But none of these victories are enough to match the goals he has set for himself and there are more targets that he has remaining to hit in the upcoming years in the elite division.
Yeah, it’s been, I’ve had a great career, you’re right. A lot of great accomplishments, a lot of cool moments. Have I hit all the markers that I set out to hit? No, no, I haven’t. So, I still got plenty to go out there and want to achieve for sure.

Joey Logano explains how NASCAR driver has gotten better on wet races
One of the major challenge the NASCAR drivers are going to face this week at Chicago is the possibility of racing in the rain. In the Inaugural race, the racers struggled to adjust to street racing in rain. But Logano feels those struggles are stories of the past at the moment and the drivers have gotten really good at it.

Now we’ve gotten to the point where we can go out there and make laps and race…We know what the right amount of spray is, so we can see and feel safe out there, and you can tell the drivers have all gotten much better at it.
Joey Logano said.
Further commenting on the situation, the veteran racer highlighted how he and many racers really struggled in the rain, as they were running wicked slow to survive. But now the situation has changed where everyone is comfortable enough to run fast, take risk and even pull of some aggressive moves that they use in normal condition during wet races.
The first time we were rain racing, we were all tiptoeing around, and everyone was going wicked slow. Now it’s like, instead of survival, what it was to start, like just don’t crash, now they feel better about it. They’re more comfortable. They’re more aggressive.
Joey Logano added.
The comments from Joey Logano not only shows the growth of the racers, but also highlight how solid the NASCAR line up is as it features drivers that is capable of adjusting to situation faster, which they should. It would be interesting to see how this race weekend is going to playout for the veteran and other racers involved.
