On the Raw Netflix premiere, John Cena officially kickstarted his final year as a professional wrestler. Cena kicked it off in style, declaring himself for the Royal Rumble match. And it turns out that Cena’s announcement has benefited WWE tremendously. As per WrestleTix, 3,112 tickets have been sold since last week’s Raw episode. Since the summer of 2021, The Cenation Leader has added 2-3K tickets to every show he’s been advertised for.
WrestleTix added that only The Rock comes close to matching Cena’s drawing power. Meanwhile, CM Punk helps in moving the gate in his hometown of Chicago and major cities like Los Angeles and New York. Furthermore, Cody Rhodes has been helpful in the house show circuit. While Roman Reigns is a huge draw for WWE, he isn’t quite on the same level as Cena yet.
Obviously, this is good news for the Stamford-based promotion, which will look to capitalize on Cena’s popularity throughout the year. Previously, The Franchise Player revealed he would be working 30-35 dates during his retirement tour. So far, WWE has advertised Cena for the next three PLEs. Moreover, fans can expect the sixteen-time world champion to appear on weekly programming in the near future.
John Cena is once again proving why he's the top draw in the business at the box office. Since I began tracking major wrestling shows in 2021, his return for the 'Summer of Cena' added 2-3K tickets (at minimum) to every show he appeared on. Very few can replicate that today—The…

Even at the age of 47, Cena’s popularity can only be matched by a handful of stars. Following his Royal Rumble announcement, the sixteen-time world champion is now headed for a record-breaking seventeenth. Taking that into account, the WWE Universe will be watching closely as Cena’s farewell tour unfolds in the coming weeks.
John Cena reportedly set to face Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41
John Cena made his intentions clear on last week’s Raw Netflix premiere. The 47-year-old is vying for the seventeenth, and it looks as if WWE is preparing to center WrestleMania around this story. In the past few weeks, several reports have confirmed that Cena will compete in a World Title match at the event.
In addition to that, The Cenation Leader has been rumored to face the current Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes. The idea of a match pitting the former face of the company against the current QB is enticing. However, this could change if The Rock decided to return for WrestleMania.
If The Rock chooses Rhodes as his opponent, then Cena might end up facing GUNTHER for the World Heavyweight Championship. Considering The Final Boss has seemingly buried the hatchet with Rhodes, the current plan could very well remain intact.
