When someone asks people around, they may have different contenders as to who they believe is the greatest of all time in WWE. But not John Cena. He has stuck with one and only Roman Reigns for quite some time now. Reigniting the GOAT debate on Club Shay Shay with Shannon Sharpe, the wrestler-turned-actor spoke highly of The Tribal Chief.

He underscored the dichotomy between their career trajectories in WWE. Cena told Sharpe how the former record-setting Undisputed WWE Champion debuted in 2012 with The Shield. Furthermore, even though fans didn’t accept him the way he was early on, Roman retained his spot as a main eventer. Meanwhile, on the other hand, he had to start right from scratch, John said about himself.

The 47-year-old then brought up the numbers to corroborate his statements. John Cena said that the WWE stock was traded at $11 million in 2012, the year Reigns debuted. And today, the stock, merged under TKO, is priced at about $117 million. Cena said that’s on Roman’s shoulders, and there isn’t a better indication of why he’s the greatest of all time.

In 2012, the stock was traded at $11. WWE/TKO stock is now at $117. That’s on his shoulders, there isn’t a better indication. Roman Reigns would be my greatest of all time. The Rock would be second. Roman’s numbers have been better than Dwayne’s.

The Peacemaker star called Roman’s cousin, The Rock, a number two. He said so, as Reigns’ numbers have just been better than The Great One’s. All this coming from a 16-time World Champion in WWE must mean something. However, this conversation might always be the way it has been for years—subjective.

Rock and Roman have been the torchbearers of their respective eras. It simply can’t be denied the stature real-life Dwayne Johnson used to have during the Attitude Era. On the other hand, his cousin is treading the same path in the modern landscape.

Does The Rock acknowledge Roman Reigns?

Earlier this year, the fans witnessed something they thought they would never see: Roman Reigns and The Rock teaming up. After an outcry from the audience prompted the Hollywood actor to turn heel, he never looked back.

Taking a stroll down memory lane, Rock resorted to being an antagonist to Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. However, despite the fact that he’s the single biggest attraction in wrestling outside of Roman, Rock had to bow down to his cousin no matter what. The People’s Champ acknowledged Reigns, citing that’s what a family does.

Even though they were on the same page back then, the end goal appears to be a singles match between these Samoan stalwarts. It might take a while to get there—maybe WrestleMania 42. However, when it happens, it could rope in an unprecedented amount of attention for WWE.
