Lewis Hamilton finally won a race in F1 after nearly two and a half years at the British GP this season. The Briton was in tears after he clinched the emotional victory at Silverstone. Many drivers and pundits praised the seven-time world champion for accomplishing this victory after such a long time.

Ex-F1 driver Jolyon Palmer commented on Lewis Hamilton’s win. He highlighted that whenever Hamilton has participated in a British GP he has always in the fight for victory. Palmer noted that the 39-year-old’s performance in this race often surpasses expectations set by the current season’s form guide. This suggested that regardless of his recent results or standings, the Mercedes driver managed to elevate his performance at his home event. Hamilton’s exceptional skill and determination, made him a fierce competitor in the race year after year.

Jolyon Palmer highlighted that Lewis Hamilton’s expertise in navigating wet conditions was crucial in overtaking George Russell on the track. However, Hamilton’s excellent judgment and collaboration with race engineer Peter ‘Bono’ Bonnington were crucial in securing his position ahead of Lando Norris during pit stops. This showed Lewis Hamilton’s immense skills and experience, excelling in different race conditions in Formula 1 and communicating effectively with his race engineer.

Whilst Hamilton’s old feel for grip and confidence in the wet got him the crucial pass on track over Russell, it was his experience and clear decision making that got the place over Norris in the pits, in conjunction with his race engineer Pete Bonnington.

Palmer highlighted the long-lasting bond between Lewis Hamilton and his race engineer Bono, from the past decade. Jolyon Palmer highlighted that Hamilton’s close relationship with Bono was crucial when McLaren’s pit crew seemed unsure about strategy decisions. On the other hand, Hamilton’s clear communication with his team led to well-timed pit stops, highlighting their teamwork and his leadership in tough situations.

Lewis and Bono have formed quite the relationship over the past decade and that communication flow was at its best in a difficult situation. McLaren pit wall were flapping, unsure when to pit or what tire to be on, the communication between Hamilton and the team was concise, to the point and spot on.
