The UFC heavyweight title unification bout between Tom Aspinall and Jon Jones is one of the most highly anticipated matchups. Fans eagerly await updates on the fight, especially since it could be the last time Jones steps inside the octagon. However, despite the excitement, there has been no progress.
Recent updates revealed that Aspinall isn’t responsible for the delay. Aspinall even tried to replace Stipe Miocic at UFC 309, which didn’t go as per his plans. Now, after a few months, the Brit believes that ‘Bones’ is still in negotiations with the promotion.
I’m chasing it. I want the fight…Does he want to put himself in a position where he’s comfortable enough financially to take the risk that he’s taking to fight me? And that is where we’re at. The UFC tell me, they assure me they are doing everything they can to make this fight.

From the start, Jones has remained hesitant about sharing the octagon with a young and dangerous fighter. ‘Bones’ claimed Aspinall has been disrespectful, and he doesn’t want to do business with him. Instead, Jones was more interested in fighting Alex Pereira, given his hype and pay-per-view potential.

“What is holding it up right now is [Jon’s] side. That’s the truth of it…
Remember what I said… ‘I will retire Jon Jones without even fighting him’.”

However, many fans believe that Jones is scared of Aspinall, and doesn’t want to risk his undefeated record. On paper, Pereira is an easy fight like Pereira with whom Jones can just wrestle. Nevertheless, all this drama has left a distaste among fight fans.
Fight fans react to Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall drama
Tom Aspinall has established himself as one of the popular fighters in the current heavyweight weight class. The British fighter has incredible power, and has the ability to knockout all his opponents with ease. For a heavyweight, he is extremely athletic and has the potential to beat Jon Jones.

Dana White has repeatedly stated that Aspinall vs. Jones is the biggest fight, and the promotion was doing everything to make it happen. In order to do that, they may have to pay a huge amount to the heavyweight champion. However, the lack of an official announcement has the left the fan base upset. Check out some of the reactions:
It will be sad if that happens. However, John has nothing to gain from that fight except tons of money.

Jones is a fraud. He also ducked Ngannou

If the UFC really wanted it by any means they would pay Jon Jones 30+ million and he would kill this guy. Just my opinion

Jon is waiting to see if Pereira wins next week that’s all

Jones doesn’t want to risk his legacy fighting a younger stronger faster bull who will match him everywhere

He's playing this all wrong. He's in his peak and should be fighting 2-3 times per year. That would force Jones to fight him or give up the belt.

Ngl I’m kinda over this shit now

It’s about to be two years of ducking at this point Tom is just wasting his career
As expected, many fans were furious about Jones ducking Tom Aspinall and holding up the heavyweight division. Others mentioned that by doing this Jones is ruining his legacy at the end of his career. Few, however, sided with Jones and predicted that ‘Bones’ would destroy Aspinall in a fight.
