Tom Aspinall is eager to claim the undisputed UFC heavyweight title, but has faced delays due to Jon Jones’ uncertain timeline. Fans are frustrated with the postponements, questioning whether the long-awaited fight will ever materialize. Aspinall now has hinted at an unexpected plan involving WWE legend John Cena, sparking curiosity about what surprises he may have in store.
Cena recently shocked the world after turning heel, something that was not expected after years of maintaining a positive image. On the last WWE Raw episode, Cena delivered a scathing promo targeting the fans as well as Cody Rhodes. Soon, Aspinall, who is a huge Rhodes fan recently revealed that he will team up with the WWE champion.

The 2023 merger between Endeavor and WWE created TKO Holdings, sparking speculation about UFC-WWE crossover events that have yet to materialize. Now, with Cena vs. Rhodes rivalry escalating, parallels can be drawn to the growing tension between Jones and Tom Aspinall. This alignment of feuds could pave the way for a groundbreaking cross-promotional event featuring both combat sports giants.

Aspinall has been waiting to fight Jones for over a year now to win the undisputed title. He has tried everything in order to get into Jones’ head, but nothing helped him land the title shot. Earlier, Jones used the Stipe Miocic legacy fight to avoid Aspinall, but he’s left with no options now.
Tom Aspinall mocks Jon Jones over losing out on fighting Alex Pereira
For a long time, Jon Jones avoided Tom Aspinall and showed interest in fighting the former light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira. According to ‘Bones’, the Brazilian superstar was a bigger name than Aspinall, making the fight better suited for his legacy. ‘Poatan’ had also shown hints of moving up and fighting Jones in a mega fight.

However, Pereira’s aspirations were ruined at UFC 313 when he lost his title to Magomed Ankalaev. Pereira and Jones were left disappointed as ‘Bones’ really wanted to fight the Brazilian. In a recent interview, Aspinall made sure to take a swipe at Jones over the recent turn of events.
You know that Jon’s phone got whizzed across the room on Saturday night [after Alex Pereira’s loss]…I would never celebrate anybody’s loss… but it couldn’t have happened at a better time for me.

Pereira wasn’t satisfied with the loss and looks forward to an immediate rematch in order to take his revenge. The newly crowned champion has already accepted the fight, and it seems like the rematch will take place later this year. However, there are still no updates about the much anticipated Jones vs. Aspinall fight.
Is Jon Jones ruining the UFC heavyweight division?
Jon Jones took a massive three-year hiatus to prepare for his heavyweight debut. He beat Ciryl Gane with ease and shocked the world by becoming the champion. However, a pectoral injury further pushed his title defense. Now, his constant delay before fighting Tom Aspinall had started to attract negative comments from fight fans.

Aspinall is a fan favorite and has proven why he deserves to be the interim heavyweight champion. The British fighter has ridiculous power and always knocks out his opponents in the early rounds. However, waiting for Jones and being inactive is not something that the fans want him to do. As such, the heavyweight division has become stagnated.
