Dana White is the key figure behind the UFC’s massive success, transforming it from near-bankruptcy into a multi-billion-dollar powerhouse. His relentless work ethic and vision eventually led him to seize the opportunity that changed MMA forever. Before achieving all this, he was hustling in Boston, navigating various jobs and challenges while chasing success.
One of the major odd jobs for White was the role of a bellboy in the famous Boston Harbor Hotel. While those days are long gone, something unique happened in 2023. UFC CEO White had the opportunity to be a bellboy. However, it was for a hilarious prank on UFC legend Matt Serra, who didn’t expect to see White in that uniform.
Serra was quick to respond and roasted White with a sneaky comment, ‘I guess the Power Slap didn’t work out.’ White couldn’t stop laughing after the comment and mentioned that it was one the funniest one-liners of all time. It was a rare sight to see the CEO laughing his heart out like that which caught many eyes.
The comment about Power Slap makes even more sense now as white been tirelessly promoting it. He often makes up some ridiculous numbers to justify the worth of the company and hype it up. However, current updates with losing major broadcasting deals doesn’t look good for the league. Nevertheless, the comment section of the post contains UFC stars chiming in.

Dana White grew up in a rough Boston neighborhood and struggled financially. He worked odd jobs and even lived in basements to make ends meet. While working as a boxing trainer, he got involved in managing fighters. His big break came in 2001 when he convinced childhood friends Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta to buy the UFC for $2 million.

Since then, he has never looked back and is currently a multi-millionaire with expensive yachts and properties. However, that comment from Matt Serra was definitely hilarious which made White laugh uncontrollably. The video has recently gone viral and UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones also commented on it.

Despite their issues in the past, Jones and White have maintained a healthy relationship when it comes to the business. Before his last fight at UFC 309, White made sure to promote Jones in every possible situation to boost the PPV sales. At the age of 37, Jones is still one of biggest stars in UFC and might soon be retiring.
Jones is currently expected to defend his heavyweight title against Tom Aspinall, but it is not yet official. Many fans have accused ‘Bones’ of duckling, but the UFC CEO has promised to give fans the mega fight this year. This is among some of the biggest fights of the 2025 UFC calendar year.
Dana White’s biggest dreams for 2025
In 2024, Dana White led the UFC to record-breaking success with several record breaking pay-per-view events. The biggest one was undoubtedly Noche UFC event that took place inside the Las Vegas Sphere, last September. The event attracted a whopping $22 million gate, making it a huge success for White and his team.

However, White has even bigger plans for 2025 which includes his entry in the boxing world. He has already inaugurated TKO boxing with Saudi promoter Turki Alalshikh‘s and is planning for a mega event. There are rumors that Mexican champion Canelo Alvarez might be a part of White’s debut event.
The UFC boss is looking forward to rebuilding boxing from ground zero and bringing in some major changes. While many experts are excited, there are also reservations about White’s vision. It will be interesting to see whether this new venture becomes successful or just another Power Slap disaster.
