Simone Biles has booked a ticket to her third Olympics after the US Trials concluded this week. After leaving the 2021 Tokyo Olympics mid-way, she will take her dominating performances to Paris. But at the same time, her husband, safety Jonathan Owens will be taking part in practices for his new team, the Chicago bears. However, it seems Biles will have her husband cheering for her at the Paris Olympics.
The Olympic Gold medalist and by far the best gymnast in the world spoke with USA Today after making her third straight Olympics.
The Bears are actually granting him a couple days off from training camp, so he'll be there, yes. For just a short little time.Simone Biles said
This confirms that the Chicago Bears have given permission to their free agent signing to be with his wife. After all, it’s a matter of bringing back the gold medal to the United States.
If it means he has to miss a few practices, then so be it. This is the first time Simone Biles will participate as a married woman. Husband Jonathan Owens wants to support her as much as possible as she looks to create a legacy. The Bears will hold open to public practices over the last weeks of July and through the first weeks of August.
The Hall of Fame game against the Houston Texans is scheduled on 1st August. The same day, Biles is expected to compete for gold. Therefore, for the Bears to grant him time off, was a show of support from the team looking to turn their tide around.
Jonathan Owens joined Chicago Bears resurgence
The Chicago Bears have long been the runt of the litter when it comes to success in the NFL. For a long time, they have tried with various head coaches and star players in their quest to return to be one of the best franchises in the league. However, disappointment after disappointment led them to take serious decisions heading into this season.
Their first move was to deal with their No.1 overall pick from last year. That netter stud wide receiver DJ Moore. Then when the Carolina Panthers ended up with the worst record, they knew they would get Caleb Williams. Knowing this, they proceeded to trade and sign high impact players to come and join their resurgence. Jonathan Owens was amongst those players who could contribute right away.
Now all that is needed is for the team to turn it up on practice so that they can build chemistry. They will need a few games to iron out their issues. But other than that, the sky is the limit for this franchise. Then it will be the time for Simone Biles to cheer on her husband during the playoffs.
