Josh Jacobs’ first game as a Packer is a trip to Brazil where they will face the Philadelphia Eagles at the home of Brazilian soccer side Corinthians. The running back was excited with the prospect of playing in front of 50 thousand fans, but a rumor has dimmed his enthusiasm.

While speaking with Chris Long on his Green Light podcast, Jacobs sounded slightly worried about his trip to Latin America.

You know, they said that the part of Brazil we're going to, you can't even wear green. They said, I guess, something to do with the gangs and stuff. They was like, 'Man, it's one of them places where they probably won't even let us leave the hotels’.

He further added to being told to pack ‘black and white’ colors to avoid any kind of mishaps. Jacobs joined the Packers earlier this year after a long spell with the Las Vegas Raiders who wear black and white. Perhaps he felt slightly disappointed that his first Packers game may not be in the famous green and yellow.

Will Josh Jacobs and the Green Bay Packers not be allowed to wear green in Brazil?

When the schedule was first announced, most fans thought the venue would be somewhere in Rio where the popularity of football is more prominent than in other parts of the country. However, the NFL committee picked a venue with the idea of expansion in mind.

Corinthians’ Neo Quimica Arena, beat out several other places for the game. Now the situation is that the soccer team’s primary colors are black and white while their bitter rivals Palmiras’ official colors are Green.

The Guardian reported in April that there’s a formal ban on the color green in or around the area of the stadium. So, the league asked the Philadelphia Eagles to use their White away kits even though they are the home team.

This color ban is taken very seriously by the locals. In 2021, a Corinthians player faced a fine because he wore green cleats during a match. However, there’s no clarification on whether the Packers and Josh Jacobs would be allowed to wear green and yellow.

There’s still a ray of hope because previously international teams have worn green jerseys. In the 2016 Summer Olympics, Nigeria played against Columbia wearing Green outfits. Yet, the league’s warning has left Jacobs a bit unsettled.

They probably gonna have, armored vehicles following us… [And] I was looking forward to it. I'm like, man, this 'bout to be a fun week. Telling us all of that, they like, 'Nah, it's not gonna be like that.

The Packers signed Jacobs after long-time servant Aaron Jones left in the offseason. He signed a 4 year $48 million deal, including $12.5 million guaranteed.
