The Tampa Bay Rays are moving on to the World Series. On Monday, the American League East side finished off the Cleveland Guardians in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series (ALCS) and clinched the pennant. Following their triumph, Junior Caminero sent a strong message to the Rays fans.

After going 2-1 down in the best-of-seven championship series, the Rays locked in and dominated the Guardians. They won 7-3 in Game 4 before taking down the Cleveland-based side 3-1 in Game 5.

In Game 6, starting pitcher Freddy Peralta once again shut down the offense of the Guardians. He pitched 5.1 innings and gave up just 1 run. As he exited the game, his side was up 3-1 thanks to a double from Richie Palacios in the second inning and a sacrifice fly from Jonny DeLuca in the third.

In the 7th inning, Caminero had his signature moment. The 23-year-old, who has been the top performer for the Rays in the regular season this year, blasted a 2-run home run off the foul pole in right field.

Caminero had a wild celebration following this home run. With former star Randy Arozarena watching from the stands, the Rays third baseman crossed his arms and copied his celebration before crossing home plate.

The Guardians did threaten to make a comeback in the 8th inning. A bases-loaded walk and a hit by pitch cut the deficit to 5-3. However, a 2-run home run by Yandy Diaz restored their 4-run lead and helped the Rays win 7-3 and book their place in the 2026 World Series.

As they celebrated their win, Junior Caminero had a strong message for the Rays fans. Once again, he channeled his inner LeBron James and shouted that this win was for them.

Tampa is the best! Tampa gave me the opportunity to come play here. Tampa! This is for you! Come on now, come on, let’s go!

This is the 3rd time the Rays will play in the World Series, with their previous two trips in 2008 and 2020 ending in defeats. They will be hoping 3rd time is the lucky charm for them.

They will now take on the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 1 of the World Series on Friday at 8 p.m. ET at American Family Field. This series will guarantee a new World Series winner, as neither side has ever won the championship before.

Freddy Peralta named ALCS MVP as Rays eliminate Guardians in Game 6

After a slow start to the season, Freddy Peralta has turned his season around. Following his strong performance on Monday, the starting pitcher was named the 2026 American League Championship Series (ALCS) MVP.

The 30-year-old started the year with the New York Mets after being traded by the Brewers. This was seen as a major acquisition for the NY-based side, who were trying to bounce back from a disappointing 2025 season.

However, he did not have a great time with the Mets. In 22 starts, he went 5-9 with a high 4.99 ERA. In August, he got traded to the Rays in exchange

Since then, he has turned his season around. In 10 regular-season starts, he went 5-2 with a 3.25 ERA. In the ALCS, he threw six scoreless innings in his team’s Game 2 win. He also recorded 2 outs during a relief appearance in the 7-3 victory in Game 4.

The right-handed pitcher will now face one of his former sides in the Fall Classic. After this series, the number of teams that have never won a World Series title will drop down to 4. Which one of them will remove themselves from this list and become a first-time champion? Only time will tell.
