The number 2nd UFC Lightweight fighter Justin Gaethje fought last inside the Octagon against Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 254. Since then there have been lots of things changed in the division and Gaethje can be found nowhere.

Many of the Lightweight fighters called out Justin Gaethje and when the Lightweight title fight got booked between Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler, many fight fans felt that the promotion overlooked ‘The Highlight’.

But in his recent interview with MMA Junkie, his manager Ali Abdelaziz told that they are waiting for the right fight for him. Abdelaziz says, “I don’t think it’s business issues right now, I think I just have to get the right fight.”

“I see a lot of people calling him out. You can’t just be away from the lightweight division for six years and come back and try to fight the No. 2 guys. You have to earn it.”

“Listen, Justin was supposed to fight Michael Chandler that was the talk. We found out Chandler was fighting Oliveira, and I get it. The UFC wants a champion who never lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov.”

“If a guy who lost to Khabib becomes the champion … you need more time to make people forget about Khabib, right? They made the move, and I get it.”

Ali Abdelaziz also tell that Conor McGregor’s name also came up for Justin Gaethje

Abdelaziz also told that not only Michael Chandler’s name came for Justin Gaethje’s next opponent; Conor McGregor’s name also came up. But he also added that he knew Conor will never fight Justin.

He added, “It was never 100 percent he was fighting Mike Chandler, but it was mentioned, It was mentioned Conor McGregor, too. I know Conor would never fight Justin because I think Justin stylistically is the worst matchup. I truly believe Justin Gaethje will be the UFC champion.”

For now, Justin Gaethje is without an opponent in the division and Conor McGregor also declined to fight Dustin Poirier after their Twitter spat. If they get booked against each other it is going to be a treat for the fight fans around the world.
