Justin Gaethje vs Dan Hooker in the making?
Number 5 ranked, UFC lightweight contender Dan Hooker has been raring to go, ever since losing to “Diamond Dustin Poirier” earlier this year, via unanimous decision. He even had a twitter run-in with Nate Diaz, last month, leading to speculation that he might fight the man with the “Stockton Slap”. Then there was Charles Oliveira and even a bout with UFC newcomer Michael Chandler was on the cards. Unfortunately, none of it came to fruition and Dan is still without a fight. But, going by his recent social media activity, it looks like he might have found an opponent in Justin Gaethje.
Justin Gaethje, on the other hand, is just coming off a loss against the great Khabib Nurmagomedov; and the number 1 ranked lightweight has already had a very eventful year, after coming in as a replacement fighter for Khabib, in his bout against Tony Ferguson; and eventually defeating Tony to win the interim lightweight belt. Though the “Highlight’s” showreel was ended by the “Eagle“, Justin is still a hot lightweight prospect.
“I’m good to go” – Dan Hooker
It all started when Justin Gaethje took to twitter posting a message saying, “Let’s go”. Dan who recently made his fans know that social media presence is important for an MMA fighter, (he tweeted this when Conor recently overtook him in the lightweight rankings, despite not fighting in the lightweight division for almost two years) replied saying, “I’m good to go.”
Although “The Hangman’s” tweet was not directly aimed at Gaethje, it fell almost along the same timelines, thus, all but confirming that it was meant for Gaethje.
What’s your take on this? Will the Kiwi face the American anytime soon? How do you think has the edge if the two face-off?
