This year's WrestleMania felt a bit odd to Karrion Kross based on certain "strange" decisions that were taken in the lead up to it.

Karrion Kross recently had an in-studio interview with Ariel Helwani where he talked about a litany of topics. The former WWE star was asked to share his thoughts about this year’s WrestleMania. At first, he said with a smirk that it’s always a great event. However, Kross’ wife, Scarlett, who was also in the studio, hilariously yelled at her husband to be honest about it.

Upon taking her advice by heart, Kross admitted that there were some strange things that happened at Mania from a spectator’s viewpoint. ‘The Harbinger of Doom’ said Randy Orton beating Cody Rhodes to win his 15th world title in WWE would’ve been awesome to see.

Kross described a perfect main event would’ve looked like Drew McIntyre defending the Undisputed WWE title at the Show of Shows in a Fatal-4-Way showdown with Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Sami Zayn. The current MLW World Heavyweight Champion thought Rhodes chasing the title but Orton emerging victorious instead with Zayn also in there with three of the best workers in the company would’ve helped everyone.

WWE instead decided to put the world title back on Cody Rhodes just weeks before WrestleMania, which Kross didn’t say was bad, but everything around it just felt odd to him. The show host Ariel Helwani then chimed in to lament the amount of commercials resulting in the lack of proper ring time for the actual matches.

Even though Helwani hailed the incredible Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk match on the second night of WrestleMania, he was left largely disappointed with the overall presentation of the event, which he thought was just “soulless” and “empty.” While he totally understood the need to generate ad revenue, Kross revealed one of his old fears about WWE turning into a reality.

The 40-year-old used to think long before even getting into WWE that someday the wrestling juggernaut might get taken over by certain individuals who would egregiously use such a global platform to promote other things for third-party deals. And after seeing how TKO is sabotaging the real essence of WWE, it made him realize that everything was heading in the direction he had long feared about.

The TKO higher-ups, yet again, meddled with WrestleMania creative plans this year. It evoked widespread anger among not only the fans but also even those in WWE, who were reportedly left disgruntled. The decision to interject Pat McAfee into the Cody Rhodes/Randy Orton feud came directly from Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel, and everyone saw what a dud it was.

Karrion Kross defends Triple H over his downgraded WWE booking in recent years

Prior to discussing his feelings about WrestleMania 42 in the aforementioned conversation, Karrion Kross gave a pretty informed answer about what’s going on with current WWE lead booker Triple H‘s deteriorating storytelling as the prima facie man in-charge of the main roster creative. At first, he revealed not being contacted by ‘Hunter’ even once since Kross’ WWE departure last summer.

Even though it did bother him, ‘The Doomsday’ gave his former boss an instinctive benefit of the doubt while saying that based on his understanding, ‘The Game’ might be in a position where he’s being asked by people above his pay grade to not contact wrestlers after they’ve exited the company.

……..He has his own patterns that I think were aligned with what the audience mostly wanted to see, and that’s speaking as a person who used to work for him. And I knew when he could call all of his shots, and I had an idea of when he couldn’t. And to me, this looks like a situation where he can’t call all of his shots……

Karrion Kross reiterated that it was just what he thought instead of being privy to something that most people don’t know. The New York-born wrestler then stated that he believes ‘The Cerebral Assassin’ is no longer being able to call his shots when it comes to current storylines. Kross based that on patterned recognition and also as someone who worked closely with Triple H for roughly five years on and off.

It made him believe that the current booking trajectory in WWE screams more of people above ‘The King of Kings’ asking the WWE chief content officer to book things in a certain way, and he is only left with the option of making the best out of it. The former leader of The Final Testament said that Hunter’s booking patterns were more aligned with what the audience mostly wanted to see, which it got circa 2023-24.
