Kate Hudson celebrated the New York Knicks’ Game 1 victory with a nostalgic tribute to one of the most iconic moments from her 2003 romantic comedy How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.

Just hours after the Knicks defeated their opponents 105-95 on June 3, Hudson took to Instagram on June 4 to share two stills from the film featuring herself and co-star Matthew McConaughey attending a Knicks game. Accompanying the photos, the actress simply wrote, “Déjà vu 😉”.

The post was a clear callback to one of the movie’s most memorable scenes, in which Hudson’s character, Andie Anderson, and McConaughey’s Ben Berry attend a New York Knicks game together. During the sequence, Andie repeatedly sends Ben to the concession stand during the closing moments of the matchup, creating one of the film’s most beloved comedic exchanges.

Released in 2003, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days follows magazine writer Andie Anderson and advertising executive Ben Berry, who begin a relationship while secretly pursuing very different personal agendas. As their competing objectives collide, the pair unexpectedly develop genuine feelings for one another.

More than two decades after its release, the romantic comedy remains one of Hudson’s most recognizable and enduring projects, with scenes like the Knicks game sequence continuing to resonate with fans and pop culture audiences alike.

Hudson’s social media post quickly drew attention because of the connection between the Knicks’ latest playoff success and the basketball-centered scene from the romantic comedy.

Kate Hudson recently revisited the film in Netflix’s ‘Running Point’

The actress also paid tribute to How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days in the second season of Netflix’s Running Point. In the series, Kate Hudson’s character, Isla, calls off her wedding to Lev, played by Max Greenfield, before looking directly at the camera and saying, “That’s how you lose a guy in 10 minutes.”

Speaking to PEOPLE about the callback, series creator Mindy Kaling admitted she was unsure whether Hudson would embrace the reference.

“Listen, listen. I know it’s corny to be meta with Kate’s movies. I was 80% certain that Kate was going to be like, ‘Hey, Mindy. I get what you’re trying to do here. It’s corny. We can’t do it,’ “ Kaling said.

Hudson acknowledged that she is “really weird about that stuff,” but agreed to the joke because the line “was really fun.”

Kaling later added, “And it is corny. I can say that it is corny, and it is a wink to one of her most iconic roles, but it’s fun. And I was really surprised, to be honest, that it remained.”

The Running Point reference served as another recent callback to How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, a film that continues to be associated with some of Hudson’s most enduring on-screen moments.
