On the latest edition of AEW Dynamite, The Elite addressed the live audience. However, the heel faction was swarmed with chants of ‘CM Punk‘, much to the annoyance of Kazuchika Okada. The Continental Champion clearly had enough of it, as he told the fans in the Kia Forum to “shut up.” Okada’s message swayed the audience into chanting his name.
During his run in AEW, The Second City Saint had well-documented issues with Kazuchika Okada‘s teammates, The Young Bucks and Jack Perry. In fact, he was involved with both sides in two different backstage scuffles. First, Punk infamously fought the AEW Tag Team Champions and Kenny Omega at All Out 2022.
The Best in the World had aired his frustrations with the EVPs, accusing the trio of spreading lies about him. During his second run, CM Punk denied Perry permission to perform a dangerous spot on a rental glass. The latter decided to do the spot anyway at All In 2023. This angered the former world champion, who ‘choked’ Perry out backstage.
This was the final straw for Punk in AEW, as he was fired days later by Tony Khan. Over a month ago, the promotion took advantage of the controversy by airing footage of the All In incident. While this initially received backlash online, it helped add intrigue to The Elite’s storyline and, ultimately, Perry’s return at Dynasty.
The Elite strip Adam Copeland of TNT title on AEW Dynamite
During the aforementioned promo on last night’s AEW Dynamite, The Elite addressed Adam Copeland‘s injury. The Rated-R Superstar sustained a leg injury after a nasty landing in his match against Malakai Black. As such, The Young Bucks announced that the veteran was stripped of his TNT Championship.
Moreover, they unceremoniously crowned Jack Perry as the new champion. Before that could officially happen, Christopher Daniels, who was fired weeks ago, interrupted the faction. Daniels revealed that Tony Khan made him the interim EVP of AEW, allowing him to answer on behalf of the boss.
In his first major step, the 54-year-old claimed that Perry wouldn’t be handed the TNT title. Instead, he announced a ladder match to crown a new champion at Forbidden Door. Of course, The Elite wasn’t happy about this decision and decided to take matters into their own hands. However, they were stopped by The Acclaimed.
