Keyshawn Johnson refuses to take JJ McCarthy No.3 overall in the NFL Draft despite him being the CFP national champion
Keyshawn Johnson doesn't believe J.J. McCarthy is close to the top two prospects of the upcoming NFL draft: Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels.

It looks like having a remarkable 29-30 winning record and winning the CFP national championship in collegiate football still isn’t enough to convince the former NFL star receiver Keyshawn Johnson. He blatantly refused to include JJ McCarthy in the top three picks of the upcoming NFL Draft.
McCarthy had previously clarified his not-so-perfect stats as a quarterback, saying his main focus was winning games. And his 29-30 winning record in two seasons with the Michigan Wolverines is the epitome of that statement. As he declared his participation in the 2024 NFL Draft, he is highly projected to be the No. 3 pick.
Unfortunately, Keyshawn Johnson isn’t in sync with the young quarterback’s projections. In the recent episode of ‘Undisputed,’ Johnson disregarded McCarthy’s NFL projections with some pretty strong words, claiming he isn’t close to Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels.
I’m not taking JJ McCarthy with the third pick in the Draft. I’m sorry. I didn’t see anything in college football that made me go, ‘Oh my god, that’s the number three pick.’ Because if you three, you bet me, you could be one. And if you are three means you could be two. And if you are one, you could be three. And if you are two, then you could be three. So you’re telling me that our eyes have told us that he’s equal to Caleb [Williams] and Jayden [Daniels]? Because 1 and 3 ain’t far apart.Keyshawn Johnson said
JJ McCarthy’s contested path to the NFL
As per the former Michigan star quarterback’s draft projections, he is most likely to be drafted in the first round and the top ten picks, if not the top three. However, there still have been many debates on whether the quarterback deserves such hype or not.
Looking at McCarthy’s stats from college, he’s truly a proven winner with a 27-1 record in three years with the Wolverines. He logged throwing for 6,226 yards, 49 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, and a 67.6 completion percentage, across the 28 games he played.
To put this in perspective, the projected No. 1 pick– Williams has a stunning record of 10,082 yards, 93 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions in his three years of college. Therefore, it’s not wrong to question McCarthy’s projection as the number three pick, when his stats aren’t even close.
