Belal Muhammad‘s coach was not happy with Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s training camp. He had a few complaints with their methods which he spoke about in his recent interview. Muhammad described the experience as frustrating and said that the team lacked creativity.
Louis Taylor has been a long-time coach of Belal Muhammad. He recently sat down for a conversation on the ‘Money Loyalty Legacy’ podcast. During the conversation, Taylor described the training camp with Khabib Nurmagomedov and his team. Taylor said:
From my perspective, it was like watching your baby drown. The thing is they’re basic. We got frustrated a lot because Belal is creative, they’re not. Each one of them is different, all of them have a base of grappling. Depending on who you go with, you might throw one kick. They are not training to be creative on the ground. Now you’re down and all the coaching goes to get up. Coaching from Khabib or anyone is going to be ‘get up’.Louis Taylor via Money Loyalty Legacy
Ali Abdelaziz had previously revealed that Muhammad had been away to Dagestan to train with the UFC lightweight champion and his team. The Dagestani team is known for their mastery in grappling and wrestling which Taylor revealed comprised the majority of the sessions.
‘The Eagle’ himself had not been a big striker during his days in the UFC. However, this is not the first time “Remember The Name” has trained with the former UFC champion. Muhammad is currently on a five-fight winning streak, so it will be interesting to see how training with team Nurmagomedov will affect his performance in his next fight.
Leon Edwards’ coach thinks Belal Muhammad is next in line for the welterweight champion
Belal Muhammad has been pushing for a showdown with Leon Edwards for the longest time. He was the backup fighter for Leon Edwards vs. Colby Covington at UFC 296. But it seems like Muhammad’s time has finally come.
Leon Edwards’ coach Dave Lovell recently talked about a rematch between the two fighters. Lovell told talkSport that the two welterweights will likely share the octagon at UFC 304 in Manchester, England.
I think it will be Belal next. It’s not written in stone, but 99.9 percent thinks it will be Belal. Leon is looking forward to the July bill. He starts his camp next week, for a 12-week camp and we are sharpening up our tools to deal with Mr. Belal.Dave Lovell via talkSport
The two had previously fought in 2021, headlining UFC Vegas 21. The fight ended up being a no contest as Edwards poked Muhammad in the eye in the second round. Although nothing has been made official, this is likely the next matchup for the two fighters. It will be interesting to see how this round goes if they do end up fighting in Manchester, England.
