Klay Thompson might not have envisioned this situation to happen. But he is officially a free agent now, after spending all of his NBA career tied to the Golden State Warriors. At 34 years of age, and with a history of injuries, one might wonder how long the guard can keep playing. But it seems, Thompson is unfazed and could leave Stephen Curry behind to sign with another team. Warriors’ fans on the other hand, do not like this news.

The Athletic’s Anthony Slater published an article in the New York Times to elaborate on the situation the 5-time All-Star is in. Regarding Thompson’s future, Slater wrote;

Even if the Warriors eventually approach Thompson with a competitive offer, matching or exceeding the money and years, it has become increasingly conceivable, according to league sources, that Thompson will decide to leave regardless, searching for a fresh start in a different environment, detached from some of the built-up friction of the previous couple seasons.

Therefore, it is likely that Klay Thompson might play out his last few years in the league wearing a different jersey, essentially signaling the end of the Splash Brothers era.

Ever since Klay Thompson was drafted by the Golden State Warriors, he has been successful playing in tandem with Stephen Curry. The Warriors usually run schemes which help Thompson get open so that he can score off a pass.

That scheme brought four NBA titles to the Bay Area. However, Thompson seems to be willing to leave it all behind and move on. If his mind is already set, then the Warriors dynasty is about to end.
