FC Barcelona coach, Ronald Koeman badly seeks to bring Memphis Depay to the club in January. The Lyon winger was very close to joining Barca in the summer transfer window but the deal collapsed due to lack of funds. Furthermore, the contract of Depay expires next summer so Barca will be hoping to get him at a cut price fee in January.
I want to have him at Barca : Koeman
The player seemed coy about the January transfer rumors to Barcelona. He added, ” That’s in four months, we’ll see. I’m very happy to be at Lyon. I’m proud to be a Lyon player and the captain.”
Koeman was more upfront about the matter and speaking to AD said, “It’s a possibility. I will try because I want to have him at Barcelona, but I can’t know what the financial situation of the club will be then. We’ll have to wait. We wanted Memphis because he’s a great player and because he’s got qualities that I think we lack, including an ability to play with depth in his game.”
The financial future at Barca looks bleak but one player who could move out of the club is Griezmann. The player seemed to question Koeman for playing him in the wrong position of the pitch. However, Koeman was having none of it and said, “I am the boss here”.
Meanwhile, for the time being, Koeman and Barca need to focus on winning the upcoming matches which include the El Classico against Madrid and Juventus in the champions League.
