Krafton announces PUBG Continental Series 5 with $1 million prize pool

PUBG Continental Series 5

The eSports community of PUBG is growing at a rapid pace which is evident from the fact that Krafton is announcing major tournaments consecutively. Recently, they have announced PUBG Continental Series 5 which will apparently be the last battle to qualify for PUBG Global Championship 2021.

Krafton is set to host this event for the first time after taking ownership of the game. A total of 64 teams from 4 regions – Americas, Europe, Asia, and the Asia Pacific will be participating in the Continental Series. For Americas and APAC, the matches will begin from September 16 followed by Europe and Asia starting on September 18. These teams will be battling for a prize pool of $1 million which will be spread evenly across the 4 regions.

PUBG Continental Series 5 also brings back the crowd funding system where 30% of all PCS5 item sales that players will be buying in-game related to the tournament’s theme will contribute towards the total prize pool via crowdfunding. The schedule, prize pool and more details of the tournament are given below.

The tournament will take place across the following regions:

Asia –  Korea, Japan, China, and Chinese Taipei
Asia Pacific – Southeast Asia and Oceania
Americas – North America and Latin America
Europe – Europe, Middle East, and Africa

A total of 36 matches (6 matches per day) will be played per region.

Open qualifiers

  • Middle East and Africa: 6 – 8 August
  • Europe West: 10 – 15 August
  • Europe East: 17 – 22 August
  • NA and LATAM Open Qualifiers – Aug. 11-18

Regional Playoffs

  • Middle East and Africa: 13 – 15 August
  • Europe West: 20 – 22 August
  • Europe East: 27 – 29 August
  • NA and LATAM Group Stage: Aug 20-26
  • Americas Last Chance Qualifiers: Aug 28-29

Grand Finals

  • EUROPE:  September 18-19 | 25-26 September | October 2-3
  • AMERICA:  September 16-17 | September 23-24 | 30 September-1 October

Players will be competing for a prize pool of $1 million which is evenly spread across 4 regions. Each region starts with a base prize pool of 250,000 USD.

  • Basic Prize : $230,000
  • Week 1 : $60,000
  • Week 2 : $70,000
  • Week 3 : $100,000

Special prizes will also be given which will be carefully selected by the officials
