Delhi Capitals pacer Kyle Jamieson clearly signaled how important securing Vaibhav Sooryavanshi‘s wicket was to him during the clash with the Rajasthan Royals. However, his aggressive celebration upon the young batter’s dismissal was widely condemned by fans.

DC finally managed to snap its three-match losing streak in IPL 2026, with a record-setting victory over RR in Jaipur. Batting first, the home side raced to 225/6, courtesy knocks from captain Riyan Parag (90 off 50), Dhruv Jurel (42 off 30), and Donovan Ferreira’s finishing masterclass (47 off 14). However, it was not enough against the DC batters, who chased down the 226-run target in 19.1 overs, with the help of fifties from KL Rahul (76 off 40) and Pathum Nissanka (62 off 33).

Interestingly, it was Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s early dismissal, and what followed after that remained in the headlines. The 15-year-old, who has already scored over 400 runs in IPL 2026. Throughout this season, Sooryavanshi has been a major challenge for opposition bowlers, notably starting his innings against experienced pacers like Jasprit Bumrah and Pat Cummins by hitting a six off the first ball.

In this particular instance, he immediately went after Kyle Jamieson, striking a four. However, the Kiwi quick seemed to have come out with a plan, as he responded back on the very next delivery with a yorker that beat the left-hander and crashed into the stumps.

Immediately after taking the wicket, the 31-year-old wheeled around and celebrated in the face of the dismissed RR batter. He fixed Sooryavanshi with a fiery stare and clapped back aggressively, while the teenager was walking off the crease.

It was quite uncharacteristic for the pacer, who concluded his four-over spell having conceded 48 runs. Fans questioned the intensity of Jamieson’s celebration after dismissing a player half his age, with the BCCI also deeming it a breach of Article 2.5 of the IPL Code of Conduct. The Kiwi pacer was found to have used a provocative gesture, resulting in a one demerit point fine and a warning.

While the celebration drew criticism, RR batting coach Vikram Rathour defended the action. Rathour, in fact, suggested that the aggressive send-off was actually a compliment to the young left-hander, highlighting how he has instilled fear in opposing bowlers.
