“True Kobe disciple” – Kyrie Irving crying after injury leaves Luka Doncic and fans devastated
Luka Doncic saw the replays of how his former Dallas Mavericks teammate Kyrie Irving's knee buckled during that layup.

Luka Doncic and Dallas Mavericks fans devastated after Kyrie Irving injury
When the Dallas Mavericks traded Luka Doncic away to the Los Angeles Lakers, Kyrie Irving was shaken. But then, he understood his role, both as an older brother and close friend to the Slovenian, and as the leader of his team.
As a brother, he constantly kept in touch with Doncic, giving him the emotional support he needed after being forced to leave his team. The 25-year-old had lived out his NBA career in Dallas, therefore Irving knew his younger former teammate was going to need all the support.
While doing that, he took on the reigns as the new leading superstar of the Dallas Mavericks. He knew those fans were grieving and needed someone to help them look towards the future. Today though, it was everybody else’s turn to support Irving. While playing against the Sacramento Kings, the Mavericks were already behind.
They were playing without some of their starters hence the onus was on their leading superstar. Knowing that, the 32-year-old star drove towards the basket to attempt a shot and draw a foul. Just when he landed his left foot to elevate and attempt the shot, that knee buckled.
Kyrie was helped to the locker room after an apparent leg injury.

He stayed in the game and drained two FTs before leaving the court.

He crashed onto the floor and was seen crutching his knee. Anthony Davis and Mavericks staff helped him up, but he was visibly hobbling. However, that shot did result in a foul, which meant Kyrie Irving had to shoot two free throws.
They brought him back to the free throw line, both of which he converted. But tears were rolling down his face as he was going through those motions. Those tears indicate he was in extreme pain after his knee buckled backwards.
Fans have hands on their heads after Kyrie Irving injury
Seeing this brought out a reaction from Luka Doncic. The now Lakers superstar used emoticons to describe his feelings on his hermano‘s injury. Along with him were fans who had their hands over their heads watching Kyrie Irving go down. It reminded them of what Kobe Bryant did after suffering an Achilles tear.
Fans took to social media to send out prayers to the fallen Dallas Mavericks superstar. They also praised him for his effort to come back and shoot free throws. Check out examples of those comments below.

Kyrie Irving suffered a knee sprain. If it is a mild sprain, the 32-year-old will be back in a matter of weeks. But if it is a major sprain, then it could end his season now. Further MRI’s and tests will determine how long the superstar will be out.
