The world is at a chaotic juncture in many ways as it stands today – geopolitically, economically and spiritually. There is an abundance of wealth, but it is in the hands of proportionately fewer people. And in recent years, there has been a rise in violence by warfare, invasions and atrocities against minorities. Kyrie Irving tried to make sense of it all on his latest Twitch stream and vented his thoughts to his fans today.

His former Celtics teammate Jaylen Brown expressed a sentiment on similar lines yesterday. Brown and Kyrie Irving are the only NBA All-Stars who have spoken openly against the genocide being committed by the IDF in Palestine. Of late, there has been a concerted push by celebrities in the mainstream to finally denounce Israel’s war crimes in the wake of pictures of starving Palestinian children emerging online.

Kyrie Irving seems to have lost hope in his fellow celebrities based on the way that they’ve maintained a stone cold silence against Israel’s atrocities. Speaking to his close fans on one of his regular Twitch streams, he denounced them indirectly after the latest rallying push to hold Israel responsible for their atrocities across social media, which he deems to be fake outrage:

The whole celebrity idea is eroding, the whole fame idea is eroding. That s**t was sold to us, y’all. You got people out here that are human that are acting every day of their lives. They’ve gotta be real. They’re just all empty…every day they’re acting. The world is a stage, dawg, and it’s a lot of terrible actors out here. The world is a stage and it’s a lot of terrible f***ing actors out here, dawg.

He went deeper into his line of thought, saying:

If you’re not a real person, and you can’t stand on your morals and principles out here, move out of the way. You can’t stand on any morals and principles out here as a person that’s trying to see this world become better? Move out of the way for the time being. I’m not paying any attention to all the beefs going on.

Kyrie Irving may be at odds with the Dallas Mavericks ownership group if he becomes too outspoken

Kyrie Irving signed an extension with the Mavericks recently after his contributions to keeping them in the playoff spots in Luka Doncic’s absence in 2024-25, and for his irresistible offense on their NBA Finals run in 2023-24. However, the Mavericks’ majority owners are the Adelson family, who are right wing Republican donors who are also Jews and fund the AIPAC and Israeli lobbies in the American political system.

The Adelsons – specifically Miriam Adelson, has donated hundreds of millions to Zionist organizations and causes over the years. She represents a major voting bloc of the Jewish lobby that holds sway over vast swathes of the American political landscape at the city, state and union levels. If Irving speaks out more openly denouncing the actions of Benjamin Netanyanhu and the Israeli army, he could be in hot water.

Kyrie Irving has already got a chequered history of not being aligned with ownership views. His refusal to get a Covid-19 vaccine led to the disarray and eventual disintegration of the Brooklyn Nets locker room and caused Joe Tsai to lose his faith in the project in 2022-23. He may not have a good ending to his NBA career if he continues down this road.
