In a post-match interview with Inside the NBA, after the Dallas Mavericks beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 108 – 105 in a close encounter in game 1 of the Western Conference Finals, the Mavericks star, Kyrie Irving reacted to Anthony Edward‘s call out ahead of the game.

He also admitted that this outing by him was the most aggressive he has been in a long time. Edwards’ words only motivated Kyrie and fueled his spirits to take the Mavericks over the line.

In the 40 minutes that Irving was on the court, Kyrie managed to put up 30 points, 4 assists, and 5 rebounds, with 12-23 shooting. This performance from Irving helped the Mavericks to take advantage in the seven-game series.

After the game, Edwards explained the loss in simple words, just as he always does. He bluntly said that the team was just “tired”. Anthony Edwards did get completely exhausted during the game while guarding Irving.

The T-Wolves’ previous series vs. the Nuggets went till game 7, and hence, the Wolves only had 2 days off to rest and prepare for the game. On the other hand, the Mavericks put their series against the Oklahoma City Thunder to bed in game 6 and had more time to rest.
