Los Angeles Lakers fans were looking forward to their team winning the second game of their playoff series against the Denver Nuggets. At least that is what they were visualizing when LeBron James and co. raced to a 20-point lead mid-game. However, all that excitement culminated in anger as their team bottled the lead and lost the game at the end.

In the first half, the Los Angeles Lakers won both quarters and built a substantial 15-point lead at the half. In the 3rd quarter, they increased that lead to 20 points. Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray shook off their 1st half struggles and quietly focused on mid-range shots as they were struggling to generate anything from long range.

That persistence paid off as they started to eat away at the lead. Towards the end of the game, the lead vanished, and they matched the Lakers on every shot.

On the last possession with the game tied, Murray drove to the right and launched for a shot. Despite having Anthony Davis‘ hand in Murray’s face, the ball went in. The Nuggets won 101-99 on Murray’s last-second shot to deal the worst emotional blow to the Lakers players as well as the fans.

Lakers fans are likely frustrated and disappointed after watching this game. It’s as if someone presented them with their favorite food, only to snatch it away right before they could take a bite. LeBron James and his teammates had done everything necessary to get them their 1st win in 10 games against the Denver Nuggets, only to throw it all away.
