Lando Norris had a challenging race at the Azerbaijan GP after an unexpected qualifying session saw him eliminated in Q1 due to a yellow flag. Despite starting from 17th on the grid, Norris managed an impressive recovery, finishing P4, thanks to the strong pace of the MCL38. Meanwhile, his teammate Oscar Piastri went on to win the race, snatching the win from pole-sitter Carles Leclerc.

After overtaking Max Verstappen for fifth place, Norris aimed to slow down Sergio Perez, who was just ahead of him. Perez was going strong and could have posed a threat to Oscar Piastri, who was leading the race.

Piastri’s win and Norris’s fourth-place finish in Baku earned McLaren the long-desired lead in the Constructors’ Championship. They currently sit on top with 476 points, 20 points ahead of Red Bull. Achieving this would have been challenging if Sergio Perez and Carlos Sainz had not crashed on lap 50.
