Dana White’s Contender Series is among his most ambitious and successful projects, continuously delivering new exciting fighters. This platform often attracts the most talented athletes globally, offering them an opportunity to earn a UFC contract through impressive performances.

The fights provide thrilling action, and many competitors skillfully promote themselves, gaining fan attention even before reaching the UFC. Steven Asplund faced Anthony Guarascio in a heavyweight bout at DWCS 81, held at UFC Apex, Las Vegas, last night. He delivered a stunning TKO victory in just sixteen seconds, marking the third fastest knockout in Dana White’s Contender Series history.

White was absolutely thrilled with the incredible performance, praising the fighter’s explosive power. Steven Asplund carried the same but weird energy to the post-fight interview that made presenter Laura Shanko laugh uncontrollably.

Dana, I’m a fat boy who likes to scrap anybody at anytime. I don’t give a (expletive) bro, please. I’ll do anything, I will suck your toes Dana.

Steven Asplund also talked about how he lost weight by doing MMA training and his motivation to prove himself. The fighter even mentioned how his father, Kevin, was a former MMA fighter who won 15 fights in a row. Nevertheless, Dana White made sure to give the heavyweight an UFC contract just moments after the wild interview.

The current  UFC heavyweight division is ruled by Tom Aspinall, who will defend his title against Ciryl Gane at UFC 321. Apart from that, the division itself is not as stacked with top fighters as it once used to be. In such a scenario, the addition of new and exciting heavyweights such as Asplund could be a great investment.

Apart from Steven Asplund, Dana White awarded UFC contracts to four more athletes who displayed incredible skill and fighting temperament. DWCS has consistently produced top-tier fighters who later became champions, including names like Sean O’Malley, Jamahal Hill, and many others.

This track record of discovering future stars has strengthened White’s belief in the Contender Series as a vital UFC talent pipeline. Inspired by its success, the UFC boss now aims to replicate the model with his ambitious latest professional boxing venture.

Dana White wants Contender Series for boxing talent

Dana White is a long-time passionate boxing fan and has now officially launched his new boxing venture after years of envisioning it. The initiative is a collaboration between White’s TKO Group and Saudi’s entertainment firm Sela, under a multi-year partnership. Modeled after the UFC, White and WWE’s Nick Khan were named to run the day-to-day operations.

Key to the venture’s creation, Saudi royal advisor Turki Alalshikh brought vision and resources that made the new promotion possible. Together, they aim to reimagine boxing globally by offering structured rankings and elite talent development opportunities. Recently, during an interview, Dana White talked about his future plans to acquire new boxing talent.

White is hosting the inaugural TKO Boxing event featuring Canelo Alvarez versus Terence Crawford this Saturday at Allegiant Stadium. This “Once In a Lifetime” superfight is generating massive hype as an undisputed super-middleweight championship showdown streamed globally on Netflix.

Ticket demand is off the charts, with a sell-out crowd expected at Allegiant Stadium and record-breaking gate revenues anticipated. According to White, it’s the third biggest boxing event following Floyd Mayweather vs. Pacquiao and Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor
