- LeBron James remains optimistic despite the Lakers' 3-0 deficit against the Thunder in the Western Conference Semifinals.
- The Lakers suffered a blowout loss in Game 3, with James scoring only 19 points on 37% shooting.
- Austin Reaves emphasizes the team's determination to compete and not give up ahead of Game 4.
LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are at risk of getting clean-swept against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Semifinals. After some impressive performances in March and April, the Lakers are on the brink of a brutal end to their 2025-26 campaign.
It was the same pattern as Games 1 and 2 for the Lakers. After a strong first-half performance, they were once again heavily overpowered by the defending champions in the second half of Game 3. In the end, the Lakers suffered a 131-108 blowout at the Crypto.com Arena on Saturday night.
After the game, James isn’t ready to throw in the towel despite finding themselves 3-0 down in the series.
I’m not angry or disappointed. Obviously you’re disappointed at the simple fact, being down 3-0 obviously. But we still got life and that’s all you can ask for. And we gotta be much better on Monday.

It was always going to be a difficult series for the Lakers. The Thunder are the only unbeaten team so far in the playoffs this year, and to make matters worse, the Lakers have had to play all their games without their primary scorer, Luka Doncic, who continues to be sidelined due to a hamstring injury.
While the Thunder have clearly been the better team in the three games, much of the spotlight has been on the officiating, especially in Game 2. LeBron James was seen fuming at the referees throughout Game 2 as calls and no calls went against the Lakers more often than not.
With their backs against the wall, James remains hopeful against an invincible Thunder side. The Lakers will need their star player to rewind the clock and put in some monster performances if they have any chance of extending the series.
LeBron James was not at his best in Game 3
Heading into the playoffs this year, there were a lot of doubts about whether a 41-year-old LeBron James could lead the Lakers without the services of Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves. But the four-time champion proved his critics wrong as he put in some impressive performances in the first round against the Houston Rockets.
However, the Thunder present a different challenge altogether. While James has played well and posted decent numbers in the first two games, it has not been enough to get his team a win.

Unfortunately for the Lakers, James struggled in Game 3 at home. All five starters for the Lakers scored double-digit points, with Rui Hachimura leading the scorers with 21. James had a difficult night as he recorded 19 points, six rebounds, and eight assists, and shot at just 37% from the field.
The Lakers will be disappointed to not come out with a win, as they even had 25 free throw attempts compared to the Thunder’s 10. For all the criticism surrounding the officiating in Game 2, the Lakers cannot have any complaints about Game 3.
Austin Reaves echoes LeBron James’ statement of still having life
It is always disappointing and frustrating to be down 3-0 in a series. No team in NBA history has ever come back from 3-0 down in the playoffs. And to add to it, the Lakers have to pull it off against a team yet to taste defeat in the postseason this year.
However, Austin Reaves is still ready to compete and believes in his team heading into Game 4.
Just come and compete. There’s a bunch of guys in the locker room that are competitors. Basically the message after the game was just we’re gonna come here Monday and we’re gonna get a win. Obviously this situation sucks, but that doesn’t give us the license to quit. We gotta come in here and compete.

The chances of the Lakers mounting a comeback are highly unlikely, but they still have pride to play for. They will be looking to give their fans a win on Monday, with Game 4 set to be played at the Crypto.com Arena.
