- Luka Doncic has missed a month due to a hamstring injury and is not close to returning.
- Ric Flair criticized Doncic on social media, expressing frustration over his absence from the Lakers.
- The Lakers struggled offensively in Game 1 against the Thunder, losing 108-90 without Doncic.
There is no doubt that the Los Angeles Lakers is Luka Doncic‘s team. He is the primary scorer, playmaker, and ball-handler of the team. Unfortunately for the Lakers, he is still far from making his return to the court.
Without Doncic, the Lakers were able to power through the Houston Rockets in six games in the first round. However, they will need his services against an in-form Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Semifinals.
In the regular season, the Thunder blew the Lakers away in all three meetings. They were at it once again on Tuesday night as they recorded a 108-90 victory over the Lakers in Game 1 at the Paycom Center.
After the game, WWE legend Ric Flair was left frustrated and called out the Slovenian superstar on social media.
Luka Doncic Please Get In The Game! Take A Shot Of Cortisone And Deal With The Pain! They Are Paying You 50 Million A Year, And You’re Not There! W*F! I Hope Jeanie Buss Trades You Next Year. Nobody Wants A Lame Duck On Their Team!

Ric Flair is a die-hard fan of the Lakers. The 77-year-old WWE legend was probably glued to his television and was left frustrated with the final result.
Luka Doncic has now missed a month of action due to a hamstring injury. He sustained the injury when the Lakers took on the Thunder on April 2. The Slovenian has not stepped onto the court since, as he continues with his recovery process.
The Lakers, led by LeBron James, have been balling in the absence of their point guard. But the Thunder present a whole other ball game. While some may believe that the Lakers are a better team without Doncic, they would be underdogs even with him in the lineup against the Thunder. However, without their superstar player, they have little to no chance at the moment.
Luka Doncic’s recovery has been slow
Hamstring injuries can be tricky to manage as they can relapse if not treated properly. Hence, the Lakers are not taking any risks with their star player. He had traveled to Europe to undergo specialized treatment, but his recovery has been slow.

ESPN Sportswriter Brian Windhorst revealed that Luka Doncic is still far from returning to action.
He is not close. There is a whole ramp up that’s required from a hamstring and he has not started that contact ramp up yet…. Do not expect I see Luka the first few games of this series.

Having Doncic in the lineup would be a huge boost for the Lakers. He may not make them the favorites, but he is coming off an MVP-caliber regular season.
No Luka Doncic in the lineup adds to Lakers’ offensive woes
Luka Doncic is the scoring champion in the 2025-26 campaign. He was averaging 33.5 points, 7.7 rebounds and 8.3 assists in 64 appearances. Without Doncic, the Lakers are not just missing their best scorer but also the best in the league.
After the game, LeBron James spoke about not having Doncic on the team.
When you play against the world champions and [miss] having a guy that averages 34 [points] and eight [rebounds] and nine [assists] and is that special, that’s [a major piece missing].

The Lakers will be hoping to see Doncic back later in this series. But till then, it will be up to James and Austin Reaves to keep the series competitive. They will be looking for a much-improved performance in Game 2 on Thursday.
