There may be quite a few teams supposedly interested in signing LeBron James for the next season or two. But so far, the conversations have been restricted to a handful.

The Golden State Warriors were at the front of the pack initially. But they have seemingly lost ground when it came to light that they could not trade for Anthony Davis.

Then there is the Miami Heat, who make an obvious case for him to return to the team that won him his first two championships. With Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo, James will be a valuable addition that brings playmaking experience and an additional scoring option.

There are two other teams, namely the Denver Nuggets and menace for a Timberwolves, who are seen as having an outside chance in the event the other teams fail to reach an agreement.

However, there are just two teams that are currently at the head of the pack: the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Philadelphia 76ers.

The former makes sense because James would be returning home, and the team is currently not considered a title contender. But when it comes to the 76ers, the narrative is generally quite the opposite.

No player that we consider that’s been in a GOAT debate has been a fourth option… He has five rings, but fourth and fifth option. It’ll do something to his legacy. I really believe that.

Some might dismiss this opinion as merely being that of a bitter rival, but Paul Pierce makes sense. Joining the 76ers will essentially cast a cloud over LeBron James’ legacy, as even Charles Barkley mentioned.

If the league’s all-time leading scorer were to join the Sixers, there would be enough criticism that he again joined a super team to win titles.

Kevin Garnett gives his opinion on possible LeBron James destinations

Paul Pierce is unlikely to be the last to say that LeBron James should not join the Philadelphia 76ers. Ever since they traded for Jaylen Brown, the roster, at least on paper, looks like a team that can overtake the New York Knicks as the best in the East. On that note, Kevin Garnett said this:

Cleveland can use what he has. He has a different confidence and leadership in the playoffs… He can inspire those pieces around there… (If) he goes to Philly, God Damn, that’s like the circus. There is only one ball. I don’t know if all those pieces can work with each other.

Again, he too could be dismissed as a former rival not being happy that a player they loathed is about to get another chance to win a title or two. But Garnett has made a compelling point using what he observed basketball-wise.

Garnett believes that returning to the Cavaliers and playing alongside Donovan Mitchell and James Harden makes more sense. He will be the person who could elevate the Cavs, as they need a leader who can show them how to win.

The Hall of Famer then pointed out that LeBron James will struggle to get the ball if he joins the 76ers. With that many superstars on that team, the King might end up being delegated to be the fourth option.

LeBron James is speaking with possible future teammates

Suggestions, conversations, and opinions will continue for a while because there have been numerous reports that LeBron James is not anywhere close to deciding and signing with his next team.

There’s communication from players directly to him.

Rich Paul revealed on NBA Today

This was Rich Paul, confirming that his number one client is in constant discussion with players from all the teams in which he has an interest.

That means the 41-year-old is getting all the insights directly from the source, rather than having to listen to every opinion that is being thrown around across sports media.

If he takes a decision in the coming days or weeks, then it will be after taking everything into consideration, and what his possible future teammates think.
