With the Philadelphia 76ers circling LeBron James with the hopes that they would join them in the quest to win a championship, it has piqued the interest of everyone who lives and breathes basketball.

The franchise was not one of the frontrunners when the King first announced that he was going to leave the Los Angeles Lakers. But after they traded for Jaylen Brown, the odds shifted.

Then, when it was revealed that the franchise had indeed contacted his agent, Rich Paul, the odds rose further. Everyone felt that the way the roster was designed, it would give James the best opportunity to add another ring to his collection.

Now that Bob Myers, the president of Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, the owners of the Sixers, has openly tabled a recruiting pitch, that too on Rich Paul’s podcast, many believe that the 76ers are in pole position.

The biggest criticism of LeBron James has always been that he packs his teams. Because he’s chasing this imaginary Michael Jordan ghost which he needs to let go… If he goes to Philly, people are going to say he’s ring chasing to catch Michael.

This was Sixers Legend Charles Barkley, making it clear that a move to his former team would only heighten the narrative that LeBron James has always stacked his teams with superstars to win him rings.

The Round Mound of Rebound believes that if the four-time Champion does move to Pennsylvania, it would prove to him that the forward is still chasing Michael Jordan in the GOAT race.

Charles Barkley believes LeBron James should go back home

The former League MVP believes that, considering all the links to Cleveland, it makes absolute sense for 41-year-old To return to the franchise that drafted him.

He don’t have no affiliation with Philadelphia or Golden State. What he does have is his hometown team… If he goes to the Cavaliers, they are probably going to be favored to win the East. They’ve got a good team… they’re just lacking leadership. LeBron’s a great leader. To me, it would be the fitting way for him to finish his career.

He admitted that the moment James signs with the Cavs, the team instantly becomes the favorite to win the East. As Barkley pointed out, the Cavaliers lack leadership more than anything. That’s the one area, along with playmaking, that James will bring.

LeBron James to Cavs has best vibes, claims analyst

Charles Barkley is not the only one who is not very excited about LeBron James potentially joining the Philadelphia 76ers. Someone who has covered the superstar throughout his career believes that it is better that James returns to his hometown.

I think it’d be flat-out weird to see him in Philadelphia. The vibe is off with that. The vibe feels right with Cleveland, the vibe feels right with Miami.

Brian Windhorst said on ESPN Cleveland

Windhorst acknowledged that vibes mean nothing when it comes down to what matters to the four-time League MVP. However, if one had to go by the vibes around both the Cavs and the 76ers, he believes that it is better that the father of three returns to the team that brought him into the league.

It will only add to his legacy instead of giving another chance to his critics to tear him apart in case he joins either the 76ers or even the Golden State Warriors and wins his fifth ring.
