Apart from his basketball prowess, LeBron James is well known for being a vivid fan of football, and he seems to have a few names for the famous Mount Rushmore debates in the NFL. While naming legends such as John Elway, and Joe Montana along with today’s era’s Patrick Mahomes, James seemingly missed a crucial name for the all-time QB list.
The basketball legend recently shared his list of legendary quarterbacks of all-time for Mount Rushmore in a social media post by DraftKings. While scrolling through the names, fans observed one of the most influential and legendary quarterbacks missing from the list and that’s Peyton Manning.
My Mt. Rushmore of all-time quarterbacks would be Tom Brady, Pat Mahomes, Joe Montana, and John Elway. I would do a toss-up between Elway and Peyton Manning.LeBron James said
However, before concluding his announcement for the all-time QB list, James included the name of Manning, as well, at the last pick by snubbing Elway off the list. This debate between Elway and Manning highlights the sheer challenge of choosing the top four quarterbacks in the extensive history of the league.
Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, and Joe Montana stand out for James’ NFL Mt. Rushmore’s all-time QB list
Amid the confusion between Elway and Manning, Brady’s name on the list is certainly not a surprise. But it is also being perceived as a favor returned since the seven-time Super Bowl champion mentioned James in his dream NFL team for the tight-end position.
Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs star Mahomes established his name among the league’s greats. Given that he has won three Super Bowl rings out of the four appearances in the last five years, among which he won two consecutively. The elite quarterback finished the season at 4,183 yards and 27 touchdown passes and now aiming for a historic three-peat.
Coming third, Montana on the list earned the honor for his exceptional play and success as a four-time Super Bowl champion, a three-time Super Bowl MVP honor, and his famous clutch performance in the league’s rich history. The only debate that remains is between Elway and Manning, as both left a lasting impact on the NFL and shaped their own era through exceptional prowess.
