Formula One fans are set for an exciting battle this season. Although, the likes of Valtteri Bottas, Hamilton and Max Verstappen continued to dominate the circuit, yet fans will be excited with the prospect of a change in the order. Max Verstappen took the pole position in Bahrain GP qualifying session on Saturday with the two Mercedes drivers being locked in the second row.

Verstappen has been dominant throughout the weekend in Bahrain so far. Barring a minor hiccup in the Q2 session, the Dutch racer was on top of his game. He will hope to get the job done on Sunday as he aims to get a head-start this season.

We had a great testing week but there are no guarantees it translates to race weekends. The car has been working really well and of course I’m happy with pole. I’m looking forward to tomorrow. We need to get a clean start and take it from there, said Verstappen after the qualifying session.

Although, the two Mercedes drivers performed better in the qualifying sessions on Saturday, yet it was not enough to secure them a regular pole position. Lewis Hamilton applauded Verstappen for his incredible last lap and stated that he drove as well as he could.

Congratulations to Max, so fast on that last lap! I absolutely gave it everything I had, but unfortunately it wasn’t good enough. There’s always more, but it was the best I could do, I got everything I could from the car,” said the Brit.

Meanwhile, Valtteri Bottas stated that there was some room for improvement and that his team are still quite not at their lethal best. He hopes of having a better performance on Sunday.

The session this morning wasn’t easy and we had a couple of issues. This evening was a bit better, but we’re not quite where we want to be – hopefully we can improve a little for tomorrow,” said Bottas.
