However, it has been stated in the Express that according to the sky sports pundit Martin Brundle, Lewis Hamilton is going to be back for the 2022 season of Formula1. Ever since Lewis Hamilton’s close loss to Max Verstappen in Abu Dhabi, rumors of Lewis retiring from the sport have been making the round on the internet.

Lewis was in a commanding position in the race but Nicholas Latifi’s crash and Micheal Masi’s over-the-top decisions opened the gates for Max Verstappen to get back into the race. Ultimately Max was able to overtake Lewis at turn 5 on the last lap of the race.

On fresher tires, Max was able to breeze past Lewis Hamilton and more importantly was able to snatch Lewis Hamilton’s record eighth world title away from him. Since then rumors have started circulating about his future plans.

However, as per Martin Brundle, “Absolutely not, I don’t buy any of it, to be honest.”

Martin believes at 37 years old Lewis is driving at his peak and in no way thinks that Lewis Hamilton is going to retire ahead of the 2022 Formula1 season.

Micheal Masi and the FIA have come under a lot of criticism for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix with people asking for the removal of Micheal Masi as race director. There have also been suggestions that Lewis might refuse to come back to the sport if Masi is still in charge.

However, Martin Brundle believes these allegations are way out of line.

Martin has said, “I’m a little bit uncomfortable of a team and a driver starting to determine who is doing what in race control or any other role in F1 – that’s the tail wagging the dog to a certain extent.”

If I was a Formula1 boss and my driver came to me and said I don’t want to race anymore if that guy is staying around, I would immediately stop thinking about race control and thinking has my driver lost motivation, which of course he hasn’t.”

Lewis will be back and he’ll be pressing the throttle even harder.”

It seems Martin Brundle is very optimistic about Lewis returning and if that’s the case, the 2022 Formula1 season is going to be a must-watch for all the enthusiasts of the sport.
