Lionel Messi shared a heartfelt response to wife Antonela Roccuzzo after she posted a family photo supporting Argentina during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Roccuzzo, who is in the United States with the couple’s three sons, Thiago, Mateo, and Ciro, posted a photo on Instagram from Argentina’s World Cup campaign. The image showed her and the children wearing Argentina jerseys as they cheered on Messi and the defending champions.

In the caption, Roccuzzo wrote, “Let’s go Argentina!!!! With you always @leomessi !!!! You are amazing!! 🤍 🤍”.

Messi later responded in the comments section with a message for his family. “❤️❤️❤️❤️ los amo,” he wrote, which translates to “I love you all.”

The exchange quickly drew attention from fans following Argentina’s title defense at the tournament. Roccuzzo has frequently shared moments from the family’s support of Messi throughout his international career, and she and the couple’s children have remained a visible presence during the World Cup.

Messi and Roccuzzo married in 2017 after knowing each other since childhood. They are parents to three sons: Thiago, born in 2012, Mateo, born in 2015, and Ciro, born in 2018. Argentina opened its World Cup campaign last week and entered the tournament as the reigning world champion following its triumph in Qatar in 2022.

Lionel Messi becomes FIFA World Cup’s all-time leading scorer

The family moment came amid another major milestone for Lionel Messi on the field. The Argentina captain became the highest scorer in FIFA World Cup history during his country’s Group J match against Austria on June 22 at Dallas Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Messi scored Argentina’s opening goal in the first half to move past the previous record. He later added another goal in stoppage time to raise his World Cup tally to 18 goals across six tournaments.

The record-breaking performance moved him ahead of former Germany striker Miroslav Klose, who previously held the men’s World Cup scoring record with 16 goals. Messi had equaled that mark with a hat trick against Algeria in Argentina’s opening match of the tournament.

The 38-year-old also surpassed Brazilian legend Marta’s total of 17 FIFA World Cup goals, making him the leading scorer across both the men’s and women’s tournaments.

Messi is appearing in his sixth World Cup after making his tournament debut in 2006. He now has 121 goals in 201 appearances for Argentina and became only the third player to score in six consecutive World Cups for his national team.

Argentina’s victory over Austria strengthened its position in Group J as the defending champions continue their bid to retain the World Cup title.
