Former Italian striker, Luca Toni believes that Paul Pogba will be the ideal signing for Juve’s new manger Andrea Pirlo. Luca Toni labeled the signing as “The ideal Gift”. Pogba won four Serie A titles, 2 Coppa Italias and 2 Supercoppa Italiana in his four seasons at Juventus. However the French International made a switch to Manchester United in 2016 for a fee of 105 million (£89.3 million).
Paul Pogba is being linked to a move back to Juventus with just 12 months left on his contract at United. He sparked off speculations last year when he expressed his desire for a new challenge. Rumors suggested that the French international was being monitored by Real Madrid for a possible move. Toni feels that Pogba would be a perfect signing for the Bianconeris , following Pirlo’s appointment as head coach.
Luca toni on ideal signing for Pirlo
In an interview with Tuttosport Luca Toni said, “Knowing Andrea, he will start building from midfield. The ideal gift would be Pogba. I don’t know if that’s possible, but it would certainly be the best option. Andrea will not be a coach who focuses on defending and counter-attacking. He loves to dominate the ball and will want to impose that on his team. I don’t know what system he will use and I don’t think it matters. Andrea is intelligent and flexible.”
Adrea Pirlo was named Juve’s manager just few hours after Maurizio Sarri’s sacking due to the last-16 exit against Lyon in UCL. Lyon qualified for the quarterfinals on away goals in the UEFA Champions League.
Fabio Capello and Luca toni on Pirlo
Luca Toni and Pirlo were teammates for both club and country in their playing days. Italian manager Fabio Capello, feels Pirlo will replicate Antonio Conte’s success at Juventus. However Luca Toni claimed, “Character-wise, he’s more like Pep. Having said that, Antonio impressed him a lot during his three years at Juventus. But in terms of group management, he was fortunate enough to be coached by the two best: [Carlo] Ancelotti and [Max] Allegri. All useful experiences, but in the end, he will be himself. He will be Pirlo and he will go his own way. Without pretending or copying anyone.”
Pirlo faces a tough task of rebuilding a Juventus side that has had a very significant dip in form recently. However the Club’s president has extended full support to the Italian legend.
