The Dallas Mavericks are headed to the Western Conference finals, credited to their dynamic duo of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. The pair has had a phenomenal season with their top-tier chemistry on and off the court. The duo has developed a close bond in the last few months, visibly growing with the team’s success.

After the win of game 6, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving were asked what they meant to each other in the press conference. Doncic first joked about the emotional question. But proceeded to talk about Irving’s impact on his game and praised his leadership. 

Oh we're getting emotional now... Just helped me mature a lot, realize to see the game in a different way, and obviously on the court it’s amazing to play with a guy like him. Just go out there and enjoy. The leader he’s been for us, not just for me but for us, he’s been amazing, always positive energy.

Irving also gave his perspective, agreeing with Doncic about the maturity factor. Further, Irving opened up about their relationship and praised Doncic for his competitive talent. The star opened up about a few topics, including the 25-year-old giving him a hard time during practice and witnessing Doncic as a father.

Luka Doncic reacted to Kyrie Irving trade’s D grade rating

When Irving was traded from the Brooklyn Nets to the Mavericks, many criticized the decision. Analysts, TV personalities, and fans believed that Irving and Doncic would not work together. But the duo has proved the critics wrong as they have reached the Western Conference finals.

ESPN gave Irving’s trade a D grade at the time. During the press conference after the win of game 6, Doncic was surprised upon learning about the rating. As such, the star was confident as he had Irving’s back. 

D?..I don’t think we care. We enjoy playing with each other and we enjoy playing with this team. We don’t really care what other people have to say.

The Mavericks duo will get more chances to play with each other and prove the critics wrong in the Conference finals. The team will either compete against the Denver Nuggets or the Minnesota Timberwolves. It remains to be seen how far Doncic and Irving could lead the Mavericks to.
